Mozzart Sport understands that Khadambi will take charge of the Entebbe-based outfit following the conclusion of his one-year stint with the coastal side.
His exit from Pirates was confirmed in an official statement after the expiry of his contract.
"South Coast Pirates and Head Coach Tony Khadambi have parted ways following the conclusion of his one-year contract. We thank Coach Tony for his dedication, passion, and commitment to the Pirates badge throughout the past season and wish him nothing but success in his next chapter.
"The club will communicate updates on the coaching structure in due course. Once a Pirate, always a Pirate."
Just days later, Mongers announced Khadambi as their new man in charge.
"We are delighted to officially unveil Mr. Tony Kadhambi Polisi as our new Head Coach. Welcome to the Mongers Family."
Khadambi leaves South Coast having overseen an encouraging campaign despite narrowly missing promotion back to the Kenya Cup. Pirates finished third in the Kenya Rugby Union Championship standings with 38 points after winning eight of their 11 matches and losing three.
The Kwale-based side progressed to the promotion playoffs but fell short of an immediate return to the top flight after suffering defeat to Homeboyz Rugby Club.
The former Kenya international had been appointed at the start of the campaign to replace Kevin Amiani, who spent three years at the helm and guided South Coast Pirates to a historic maiden Kenya Cup qualification in 2024.
The achievement made the club the first from Kwale County to compete in Kenya's top-tier rugby competition.
However, Pirates' stay in the Kenya Cup lasted only one season before relegation, prompting the club to turn to Khadambi in the hope of engineering an immediate return.
His move to Mongers marks a return to familiar territory, having previously enjoyed a successful playing spell in Uganda. Khadambi captained Jinja Hippos to their first-ever Uganda Rugby Premiership appearance and also featured prominently in the Uganda 7s Series.
Away from his playing career, he has earned a strong reputation as a coach and talent developer through his work with Tororo Crest and Moi University Arsonists, where he helped nurture emerging players and build competitive teams.
When appointing him last year, South Coast Pirates hailed Khadambi as a leader whose experience and values matched the club's long-term ambitions.
"A proven leader on and off the field, Coach Khadambi brings a wealth of experience from his decorated playing career with Impala, KCB, Homeboyz, and Kenya U20 (Chipu), where he captained the 7s side.
With his passion for the game, player welfare, and community development, Khadambi embodies the Pirate spirit of ambition, resilience, and family," the club said.
