Kericho proved to be a perfect alternative to Bomet, as the club managed huge following and turned the facility into a fortress especially in the second leg.
Their stay at Kericho will be disrupted after the facility was demolished in preparation for major upgrades by the national government.
According to photos circulating online, including from Kericho Governor Eric Mutai, seven out of the 10 stands have since been brought down as well as the inner perimeter fence.
The VIP stands, which houses the changing rooms as well as County and FKF Kericho Branch offices, have been spared.
The demolitions come barely three years after the national government upgraded the facility at a whooping cost of Ksh408 million ahead of the 2023 Mashujaa Day celebrations.
Apart from the VVIP area, the other seven stands, built in 2023,were made of steel.
This is the third time the facility is undergoing renovation in just eight years.
The first one undertaken by the County Government of Kericho in 2019.
With Gusii Stadium also undergoing renovations, APS Bomet are likely to host their home matches to the William Ole Ntimama Stadium, Narok.
