Top golfers tee off at Nyali as Sunshine Tour race intensifies

The fourth leg of the Sunshine Development Tour – East Africa Swing is underway at Nyali Golf & Country Club, bringing together 80 golfers from nine countries for three days of competition as the race for Sunshine Tour qualification and Order of Merit points intensifies.

The tournament has attracted one of the strongest fields of the season, featuring professionals, elite amateurs, junior golfers and lady professionals from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Nigeria, India, the United Kingdom, the United States and South Africa.
Among the leading contenders this week are defending Nyali champion Njoroge Kibugu, recent Kabete Challenge winner Dismas Indiza, NCBA Royal Classic champion Daniel Nduva, season-opening winner Celestin Nsanzuwera, as well as Edwin Mudanyi, Greg Snow, John Lejirma, Michael Karanga, Samuel Njoroge and elite amateur Adel Balala.
This year's Nyali tournament is being staged with the support of Absa Bank Kenya, which has committed Ksh6 million to sponsor three legs of the Sunshine Development Tour at Nyali Golf & Country Club, Ruiru Sports Club and Mt. Kipipiri Golf Resort.
Each tournament has received Ksh2 million to support prize money and tournament logistics, marking the second consecutive year that Absa has partnered with the Tour.
The Sunshine Development Tour has quickly established itself as East Africa's premier development pathway, bridging the gap between amateur and professional golf.
Since its launch, the Tour has seen players such as Njoroge Kibugu, Greg Snow, Dismas Indiza and Rwanda's Celestin Nsanzuwera graduate to the main Sunshine Tour, while Naom Wafula earned her card to the Sunshine Ladies Tour.
Beyond competing for prize money, players are also battling for valuable Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points, World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) points and Sunshine Development Tour Order of Merit points, all of which are crucial in the race for promotion to the Sunshine Tour.
