The experienced left-back confirmed his exit through an emotional message posted on his official Facebook account, reflecting on a journey that saw him rise from a new signing to one of the club's most dependable leaders.
"After eight unforgettable years, the time has come for me to say goodbye to this incredible club.Wearing this badge has been one of the greatest honours of my football journey. From my first day to serving as Assistant Captain, every moment has shaped me into the player and person I am today," Ochieng wrote.
The defender reserved special appreciation for the club's management, technical bench, teammates and the Gor Mahia faithful, acknowledging the unwavering support they offered throughout his stay.
"I want to thank the club management, coaches, technical bench, my teammates, the staff, and above all, the amazing Gor Mahia fans. Your love, trust and unwavering support have meant everything to me. We celebrated victories together, faced difficult moments together and created memories that I will cherish forever."
Ochieng also reflected on the honour of serving as the club's assistant captain, describing the leadership role as one of the proudest moments of his career.
"Being entrusted with the responsibility of Assistant Captain was a privilege I will always be grateful for. Leading this team alongside my teammates taught me valuable lessons about commitment, resilience and unity," recounted the former Palos FC defender.
The former Western Stima defender joined Gor Mahia during the 2018-2019 season and quickly established himself as a key figure in the backline.
His aggressive tackling, consistency and uncompromising defensive displays earned him the nickname Simiti( cement) among the K'Ogalo faithful, who embraced him as one of the club's most reliable performers.
Over the next eight seasons, Ochieng played a significant role in one of the club's most successful periods, helping Gor Mahia win seven major trophies.
His medal collection includes five FKF Premier League titles, among them the club's record-extending 22nd league crown in the 2025-2026 campaign, as well as the 2021 Mozzart Bet Cup and the FKF Charity Shield.
Despite bringing his chapter with the Green Army to a close, Ochieng insisted his bond with the record Kenyan champions remains unbroken.
"Today, I leave not because my love for this club has ended, but because I believe it is time for a new challenge and a new chapter in my career. Gor Mahia will always have a special place in my heart, and I will forever be proud to have been part of this great club's history.
"Thank you for believing in me, standing by me and making these eight years so special. I wish the club continued success, more trophies and nothing but the very best in the future.Once K'Ogalo, always K'Ogalo," he concluded.
Ochieng's departure adds to the growing list of exits at the club this transfer window.
Midfielder Enoch Morrison, who was named both the league's Most Valuable Player and Gor Mahia's Player of the Season, has already completed a move to Sudanese giants Al Merrikh SC, while long-serving goalkeeper Gad Mathew also confirmed his exit following the expiry of his contract.
The experienced defender is now understood to be closing in on a move to the 2024-2025 FKF Premier League champions, Kenya Police FC, who are keen to strengthen their defensive unit as they look to bounce back from a trophyless campaign.
His exit also signals the ongoing wider mini squad overhaul at Gor Mahia, coming just days after club Administrative Manager Ronald Ngala revealed that about eight players would leave as the club seeks to rebuild ahead of the new season.
