Former AFC Leopards goalkeeper, Ezekiel Owade, is banking on his strong performances in the Mozzart Bet Cup to secure him a return ticket to the FKF Premier League.

Owade, currently turning out for Nairobi Regional League leaders BB Bread, has been under the radar for over a year.

He, however, resurfaced in the 2026 Cup campaign with the giant-choking Bread.

Owade stood tall in goal to help BB Bread eliminate Kenyan giants AFC Leopards on post-match penalties in Round 64, before keeping a clean sheet in their 1-0 victory over Gor Mahia in Round 32.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport, the 30-year-old announced his intention to return to the top tier.

Age is still on my side. I still have what it takes to play in the top tier; it is just a matter of time. Life has its ups and downs, and at the moment, I find myself playing at the lower level. However, the journey to the top is not yet over,” said Owade.

The former Muhoroni Youth custodian also shed light on their preparations that have seen them eliminate giants.

We prepare for the Cup just like we do in the league. Playing in the Cup itself is a motivation to our players, and so it is easy to push ourselves.

With my experience, I just keep encouraging and telling them that everything is possible in football and all they need is to take each game with the seriousness it deserves,” he stated.

Owade also took time to appreciate the role of leading gaming form Mozzart Bet Kenya Limited in the growth of Kenyan football.

Mozzart Bet has been a good part of Kenyan football. Players from grassroots teams have an opportunity to play against top teams, while there is also monetary motivation to compete,” he noted.

Owade’s absence in the top tier was partly motivated by the alleged involvement in match manipulation through an undated video that shook the internet in Match 2025.
