Kenya Police head coach Nicholas Muyoti has identified the major issues that could potentially spoil their hunt for the second league crown.

Despite the huge investments made in the off-season and January transfer windows, the Law Enforcers have been struggling to register positive results consistently, a run that may see them surrender the title they won last campaign.

Their struggles continued last week, where they fell 2-0 to Posta Rangers at Kasarani Annex.

Before the match, Police were expected to dominate and grab maximum points easily, considering that Posta had not won a match in the year.

However, goals from Jackson Macharia and Dinken Mwema condemned the moneybags to their fifth loss of the season.

Speaking after the match, Muyoti laid bare what has been troubling the club that was widely expected to have a smooth sailing in the season.

I think we had players who did not have the character and fighting spirit in them, but this is what I must impart in the player because that is me. I am a fighter, and as a coach, if they do not have it, I must instill it,” said Muyoti.

To get back to our level, we need to up our character and spirit. Police is not a small team; they have been champions before. My players just need to keep focus and get what I am instilling in them,” he added.

Police went down in the seventh minute after David Owino’s misplaced pass was punished by Macharia, who punished his former side.

The Mailmen doubled their lead in the 72nd minute courtesy of Mwema, who scored from a corner after poor marking by Police captain Aboud Omar.

The manner in which the team conceded the two goals is one that left Muyoti a troubled man.

We must now reduce the errors that we commit, and in the event we commit, we must react faster and bolder than we do at the moment,” stated Muyoti.

Despite the challenges, the former Nairobi United head coach identified one aspect of his team that impresses him.

We have had challenges defending this cup, but from the time I came, I have seen improvements, especially in terms of teamwork,” he noted.
