Tusker FC have completed the signing of Ivorian winger Aboubacar Doumbia as the Brewers continue their ambitious rebuilding project ahead of the 2026-2027 season.

The 25-year-old joins the former Kenyan champions from Saudi Arabian First Division League side Al Orobah, bringing with him a wealth of experience from spells in Saudi Arabia, Cyprus and Israel.

Before moving to Saudi Arabia, Doumbia featured for Karmiotissa in Cyprus and represented Israeli clubs Hapoel Haifa, Maccabi Netanya and Maccabi Petah Tikva, where he established himself as a pacey and versatile right winger.

The new signing also boasts international pedigree. He represented Ivory Coast at the 2019 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations before featuring at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Doumbia has also turned out for the Elephants at U-20 and U-23 levels and has earned a senior national team cap.

Doumbia becomes Tusker's third major signing of the transfer window following the arrivals of former Kenya Police FC assistant captain Abud Omar, who returns to Ruaraka a decade after leaving the club, and Nigerian striker Victor Mbaoma, who joined from Nigerian champions Remo Stars.

The Brewers have embarked on one of the most extensive rebuilding exercises seen in the FKF Premier League after a disappointing 2025/26 campaign in which they finished ninth despite lifting the Mozzart Bet Cup.

To reshape the squad, Tusker have released 20 players from last season's squad and are expected to bring in up to 19 new faces before the transfer window closes.

The overhaul has affected every department of the team, with only a handful of last season's players remaining.

Among those who reported for the club's first training session on Monday were:Chris Erambo, Eric Kapaito, Eugene Ikutwa, Francis Oduor, Tom Teka, Ian Simiyu and Yakeen Muteheli, as preparations for the new campaign officially got underway.

Tusker are gearing up for a demanding season that will see them compete in the FKF Premier League, defend the Mozzart Bet Cup, represent Kenya at the CECAFA Kagame Cup in Rwanda and campaign in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Domestically, the Brewers are targeting a return to the summit of Kenyan football after falling short last season.

They are expected to face stiff competition from champions Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards, Kenya Police FC and Nairobi United, all of whom have significantly strengthened their squads during the current transfer window.

The club's restructuring extends beyond the playing squad.

Head coach Julien Mette is also expected to bolster his technical bench by bringing in at least one additional member of the coaching staff as Tusker seek to mount a serious challenge on all fronts in the upcoming season.
