After clocking only 115 minutes last season, it remains to be seen whether any club will be willing to take a chance on him
Despite hoping to revive his career at Monaco, Paul Pogba is heading towards the Stade Louis II exit after only a single season and 115 minutes on the pitch!
Due to persistent ankle and calf injuries, the midfielder made only six appearances for the Ligue 1 club, playing his last match on May 2 against Metz.
Given his vast experience, Pogba was expected to be a sort of mentor to one of the league's youngest squads. However, he spent almost the whole campaign off the pitch, becoming a liability for the club.
Monaco's general manager Thiago Scuro wasn't as blunt in his remarks, but he still confirmed that the project built around the Frenchman has failed.
"The situation is complicated because we have a lot of respect for him. When he first arrived, he was very positive and greatly assisted the younger players. However, the truth is that the project didn't function well last season," he said via La Gazzetta dello Sport, before touching on Pogba's future.
🚨🗣️ Thiago Scuro [AS Monaco Sporting Director] has stated that Paul Pogba could LEAVE this summer!

"Could he leave? Yes, of course. Maybe he'll leave, maybe he'll stay. It's a very complicated situation."
"The truth is that the project with him didn't work out well last… pic.twitter.com/P3shvbxYTA
"I believe we need to be fair to him. We will monitor his preparation every week, observing his physical and technical progress. Ultimately, it will be up to Filipe Luis to decide whether or not to give him playing time. We have the summer to assess Paul's true level."
At first glance, this message sounds optimistic, implying that the 33-year-old can compete for a place in the team. Nevertheless, anyone capable of reading between the lines understood the real message behind Scuro's words - Pogba is free to leave.
He has one year left on his contract with Monaco, but they will most likely look to part ways with him as soon as possible.
The question is: will any club be willing to take a chance on him? Is Pogba heading for a fresh start or the beginning of the end?
