At Kakamega Rugby Field, St Joseph’s, popularly known as JOBO, secured their second straight regional qualification with a commanding 3-1 win over Coast Region’s Serani High School.
The match belonged to Shabana FC forward Instin Simiyu, who bagged a hat-trick to seal the win for the Brown Saints and dash Serani’s hopes of making it past the group stage.
Over at the Mabao Grounds, hosts Musingu High School ran riot over North Eastern representatives Garissa High School with a thumping 9-2 victory.

Star of the day Marvin Ashiundu scored four goals to lead Musingu’s march into the semi-finals and ensure a return to the regional stage.
Ashiundu now tops the tournament's scoring charts with six goals, having netted a brace in their opener against Moi High School Mbiruri.
Kevin Karamoja, Quimba Sharan, and Ronny Ochieng also got on the scoresheet for coach Benard Mwinamo’s free-scoring side.
Meanwhile, tournament dark horses Agai High School, under coach Gordon Ooko, continued their fairytale run by edging fellow debutants Moi Mbiruri 1-0 in a tense tie at the Mumias Complex.
Moses Otieno was the hero, scoring the lone goal to not only book a semifinal slot but also guarantee East Africa qualification.
Highway on the brink of exit
At the Outer Field in Kakamega High School, defending champions Highway Secondary School were held to a dramatic 3-3 draw by Central Region champions Kirangari High School, leaving their title defense hanging by a thread.
Coach Beldine Odemba fielded a strong lineup, knowing only victory could keep Highway's hopes alive.
And they started on the front foot, Luis Ochieng converting a penalty just eight minutes in after Afandi Wayne brought down a player in the box.
But Kirangari quickly responded, Sikuku Emmanuel equalised from close range following a goalmouth scramble.
Highway were back in front almost immediately through Alvin Oloo, only for Kitau Shida to pounce on a goalkeeping error to level again for the Central Region boys.
The first half ended 2-2, with Highway staring at a premature exit.
The second half saw fewer chances, but Bryan Odhiambo restored Highway’s lead midway through the half, only for Kirangari’s Kennedy Odhiambo to strike late and rescue a point for his side.
The result means Highway must now beat Serani by more than four goals in their final group match to advance, and they will also need St Joseph’s to beat Kirangari.

After the match, Kirangari's head coach, Jacob, was left ruing missed chances.
“Today we tried so much. We worked hard, but made silly mistakes. If we managed those better, we’d have won,” he told Mozzart Sport.
“Our attackers had chances to kill the game, but they were wasteful, especially in the final moments.”
Now in their third attempt at the national level, Jacob and his technical bench are determined to upset JOBO and bring the national title to Central Kenya.
