The Red Commandos sealed a place in the semi-finals after beating Rift Valley representatives Nasokol Girls 2-0 in a match played at the Outer Field, Kakamega High School.
Kenya U17 forward Lorna Faith starred in the match, scoring both goals in the first half to hand coach Harold Shikangwa’s side a well-earned victory.
Butere signalled their intent from the onset, though they initially struggled to break down Nasokol’s low defensive block.
The Rift Valley side’s game plan was clear: shut down the Commandos and salvage a shaky national campaign that had started on a low note on Tuesday.
But their resistance was broken in the 12th minute when Faith weaved past her markers to open the scoring.
Just four minutes later, Faith combined brilliantly with Joy Marvellous to beat Martha Mitchelle and slot home the second goal.
Rattled by Butere’s early dominance, Nasokol head coach Patrick Tulel was forced into a tactical reshuffle to contain the onslaught.
While the changes helped prevent further damage, Nasokol rarely threatened Butere goalkeeper Christine Adhiambo.
At the final whistle, Butere players and their fans stormed the pitch in sheer delight to celebrate qualifying for the last four.
Madira Girls
In another quarter-final clash, Madira Girls also booked their spot in the semi-finals after defeating Coast region representatives Mwanambeyu Girls 2-0 at Kakamega Mabao Grounds.
Forward Margaret Njeri and Valerie Nekesa were on the scoresheet for the Vihiga County champions, who looked composed and clinical throughout the match.
Speaking after the final whistle, Madira head coach Eddy Wekesa said his team is focused on the bigger picture.
“The plan is still on, get to the finals and win the title. We respect our opponents and will take each game as it comes,” he said.

Elsewhere, Kobala Girls revived their campaign with a 1-0 win over Dagoretti Mixed, while Ruiru Mixed and Dr. Charles Lutale played out a 1-1 draw to keep their semi-final hopes alive.
