Besides flying in the legends, Owalo is planning to bring in former Tanzanian champions Simba for a friendly match against Gor Mahia
African football icons; Samuel Eto’o of Cameroon, Ivory Coast’s Didier Drogba, and his Togolese counterpart Emmanuel Adebayor, are among the guests expected at the Eliud Owalo Foundation launch.
Owalo's revelation comes barely days after the trio of Adebayor, Eto'o, and Jay Jay Okocha featured in an exhibition match in Somalia.
The three superstars were part of a FIFA-backed 'peace tour' that Somalia hopes will play a key role in enabling them to stage international matches again.
The foundation is a non-governmental organization (NGO) run by Gor Mahia deputy patron Eliud Owalo, with a key focus on facilitating the basic needs of Kenyan communities through strategic alliances and partnerships.

Owalo announced that the foundation will be officially launched in November in an event that will bring together various African sporting personalities.
“We will have an official launch of the foundation in November. We have invited retired African football greats who will be here for the official unveiling and the strategic planning of the foundation.
We are looking at bringing the likes of Didier Drogba, Jay-Jay Okocha, Nwankwo Kanu, Emmanuel Adebayor, and Samuel Eto’o for the event. It will be a full house,” said Owalo in an interview with Radio 47.
Some of the invited stars are not new to Kenya, having made visits and engaged in sporting activities before.
However, their return will definitely resonate well with Kenyans, considering that the event will be held just weeks before the start of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Apart from flying in the legends, the former Cabinet Secretary for ICT and the Digital Community also disclosed plans to ship in Tanzanian giants Simba SC as a way of spicing up the tournament.
“We are also looking into inviting Simba Sports Club to face Gor Mahia, then later in the evening,” he revealed.
Given his love for basketball and other disciplines, Owalo, in the meantime, announced that an exhibition will be part of the day's itinerary.
"The Kenya Morans will take on South Sudan in a basketball match. It will be a full house,” he added.
Owalo, through his foundation, donated the current Gor Mahia FC team bus to ease the club's travelling expenditure.
