The headline clash of the day sees defending champions Kenya Police FC finally make their league bow against military rivals Ulinzi Stars

Three FKF Premier League fixtures are on the cards this Wednesday in Nairobi and Migori as week three action intensifies. The matchday officially got underway on Tuesday when KCB FC edged Kariobangi Sharks 1-0.

Kenya Police FC vs Ulinzi Stars (4 PM, Police Sacco Grounds)

The headline clash of the day sees defending champions Kenya Police FC finally make their league bow against military rivals Ulinzi Stars.

Police were absent from the opening two rounds due to their CAF Champions League commitments. They return to domestic action eager to put behind Sunday’s shock 2-0 defeat to Mogadishu City, a result that still saw them progress on away goal rule following a 3-1 first-leg win.

Ulinzi, meanwhile, began their campaign with a goalless draw against Kariobangi Sharks before registering a victory over Murang’a Seal. The Soldiers will be looking to sharpen their finishing after wasting numerous chances in that match.

History suggests this will be another tight affair. In eight league meetings, six have ended in draws, with each side managing just one win.

Tusker FC vs Mathare United (3 PM, Dandora Stadium)

In Dandora, 12-time champions Tusker FC are under pressure to halt their poor start to the season when they face Mathare United.

The Brewers sit in the relegation zone after back-to-back defeats to KCB FC and Posta Rangers, and pressure is already mounting on head coach Charles Okere.

Club chairman Charles Gacheru has voiced concern over the slow start, warning that early improvements are non-negotiable.

“It is definitely a disappointing start. We prepared well and expected a positive opening, but losing the first two games is a real alarm bell.

We must turn things around against Mathare because we cannot afford more slip-ups this early in the season,” Okere said.

Mathare, on the other hand, bounced back from an opening-day loss to Posta Rangers with a shock 1-0 win over KCB FC and will fancy their chances of piling more misery on Tusker.

Last season, both sides claimed a win apiece in this fixture—Tusker winning the first leg 2-0, and Mathare responding with a 2-1 victory in the return match.

Mara Sugar FC vs Nairobi United (2 PM, Awendo)

In Migori County, Mara Sugar hosts newly promoted Nairobi United in a historic first-ever top-flight meeting between the two sides.

Mara opened their campaign with a goalless draw against Kakamega Homeboyz and will be eager to secure maximum points in front of their home fans, having narrowly avoided relegation last season.

For Nairobi United, this will be their league debut after sitting out of the opening two rounds due to CAF Confederation Cup duties.

The ambitious newcomers have openly declared their intention to challenge for the title, and they will be keen to make a strong statement in Awendo.
