The 24-year-old is one of the signings that the record 21-time league champions made in the off-season transfer window, joining the same day as compatriot George Amonoo.

Adukwaw has posted a great start to life at K’Ogalo, showing glimpses of quality in the 1-0 loss to Bidco United in the season opener before a Man-of-the-Match performance capped with a brace in the team’s 2-0 victory over Sofapaka.

His coach, Akonnor, who is also from Ghana, opened up on how the 24-year-old signed for the Kenyan giants.

“He (Adukwaw) is a talented player. When we knew we were coming to Gor Mahia, we blocked other offers for him because we wanted him to help us and also to improve him as a player,” said Akonnor after the win over Sofapaka.

The former KF Trepca 89 forward's second goal was a beauty. He picked up the ball in his own half and, just after crossing the halfway line, spotted Victor Kamungo in the Sofapaka goal off his line and unleashed a long-range thunderous shot that found the back of the net.

The brace earned K’Ogalo not only their first two goals of the season but also their maiden victory, much to the delight of their tactician.

“It was a good game, and we continue to improve from our previous match, where we were not able to score.

This time, we were able to score two goals, but we still have to improve, especially in our final third, where we need to create more chances and convert them,” stated Akonnor.

The 51-year-old tactician went ahead to disclose the tactical tweak that earned his side the victory.

“We chose to go on direct attacks instead of building from the back because the field did not favour us.

We also went direct in order to play more in the opponent's half, and it worked largely, but again, we still have to improve,” he remarked.

Akonnor will be hoping that his charges continue with the winning streak when they face KCB FC in their next match, slated for Saturday, 4 October at the Nyayo National Stadium.
