FKF Premier League debutants APS Bomet may have endured another difficult outing on the pitch, but off it, the club registered a positive milestone after raking in thousands of shillings from their first home match of the 2025/26 campaign.

With their Bomet IAAF Stadium currently under renovation, the Administration Police-backed outfit played host to Murang’a Seal at Gusii Stadium in Kisii, attracting an encouraging turnout.

In a statement posted on their official Facebook page, the club revealed that they collected Ksh124,450 in gate takings, a figure that reflects both the community’s support and the growing appeal of top-flight football in the region.

“Matchday 2 Gate Collection. We recorded a total of KSh 124,450 from our last fixture. Thank you so much for your support,” read the club’s statement.

On the field, however, it was another sobering evening on Sunday, 28 September for Michael Nam’s men.

Murang’a Seal took an early lead in the 14th minute through Joseph Waithera, who pounced on a defensive lapse to slot home the opener.

Despite Bomet’s spirited efforts to claw their way back, their resolve was broken deep into stoppage time when substitute Levis Wanjala sealed the win for the visitors.

The result means APS Bomet have now suffered back-to-back defeats in their opening two fixtures, following their 4-2 loss to Shabana FC in the opening week.

Alarmingly, the team has already conceded six goals in just two matches, leaving them rooted at the bottom of the 18-team table after round two.

Despite the poor start, optimism remains. The decent gate collections are a testament to the backing the club enjoys, and with continued fan support, Bomet will hope to steady their campaign.

Their next assignment, however, is no easy task, as they host defending champions Kenya Police FC on Saturday, 4 October at Gusii Stadium, a clash that could either reignite their season or deepen their struggles.
