Onyango, who served the club in a managerial capacity from 2011, said fans must allow the new office enough time to plan and implement their vision for Ingwe’s revival.
He praised current chairman Boniface Ambani as a youthful and strategic leader capable of steering the club to greater heights if given space to work.
"In this short period, the only thing that can turn things around is giving leadership time. Bonny is a young leader and a good planner,” Onyango told Mozzart Sport.
The former Harambee Stars and KCC striker noted that Ambani’s extensive experience as both player and coach uniquely positions him to understand the inner workings of the game and the challenges the club faces.
"He has been there, he knows what is supposed to be done and when. Let’s just support the chairman and give the team a little patience,” he added.
Onyango stressed that Leopards’ current squad is youthful and full of potential, expressing optimism that consistent investment in their development could yield significant success in the coming years.
"If you look at AFC, they are small kids, the majority of them. They’re going to do wonders. AFC will be a rock if they continue with the culture being cultivated,” he explained.
However, he cautioned that internal divisions could derail progress.
"But if they start rubbing shoulders with the chairman, nothing will happen. Things will just collapse and the club will be in danger,” Onyango warned.
He appealed to supporters to manage their expectations and allow the leadership time to build a stable project.
"The new leadership came in this year, we can’t expect results in one season. Give them two or three years before asking for trophies. With the current leadership, I trust they can change everything if given time,” he concluded.
Ingwe have endured a slow start to the 2025/26 Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) season, registering two draws in their opening games, a 1-1 result against Sofapaka and a 2-2 stalemate against Posta Rangers.
In the recent ODM@20 Tournament, Ingwe finished fourth after losses to Bandari and Shabana.
