This comes after head coach Dietmar Kühbauer announced his shock exit to fellow Bundesliga rivals

Harambee Stars striker Ryan Ogam will play under a new coach at Wolfsberger AC, just days after settling into the Austrian-based club.

This comes after head coach Dietmar Kühbauer announced his shock exit from the side to rejoin his old club LASK Linz, also playing in the Austrian Bundesliga.

Kühbauer, who joined Wolfsberger in June last year, was pretty successful in his first season in charge, as he led the RZ Pellets WAC to a historic ÖFB Cup win —a milestone in the club's history.

On top of that triumph, the 54-year-old also saw the side finish fourth in the league, a result that secured them a place in Europe for a second successive season.

Speaking of his departure, Kühbauer, who was unveiled by LASK early Thursday, said: “It was a really tough decision for me, as I really appreciate the team and we had a great time. I have decided to take on a new challenge. I'm not worried about WAC's success – I wish the club all the best for the future."

The decision appeared to have caught Wolfsberger by surprise, with club President Dietmar Riegler admitting as such in his statement.

“Dietmar Kühbauer's departure came as a surprise to the entire club and came at very short notice,” Riegler said. “We are now concentrating on the search for a new coach – we will carefully consider which direction we take.

The team is intact, and we are confident that we will make the best of this situation."

Under Kühbauer, Ogam, whose summer move was only announced on 25 September, played just one match - a 3-1 win over Grazer AK, where the former Tusker striker came off the bench to feature for 16 minutes.

Ogam has set himself a modest target of 10 goals in his first season at the club, and will hope that the new man favors him to accomplish just that.

The 20-year-old is currently away on international duty with Harambee Stars, and should return just in time for Wolfsberger’s next match against Ried on Saturday, 18 October.
