Ismael Saibari signed a five-year deal with the Bavarians, while his former team, PSV Eindhoven, will earn €55 million from his transfer

The World Cup is heating up, but the transfer market waits for no one. Not even for Bayern Munich.

Even though his national team is preparing for the World Cup Round of 16 and the clash against the co-hosts, Canada (July 4), Ismael Saibari had a more important thing to do today: making a career-defining move.

Over the last 17 days, the 25-year-old scored in each of the Atlas Lions group-stage games - against Brazil, Scotland, and Haiti - and netted the decisive penalty in the shootout against the Netherlands, sending the Atlas Lions to the Round of 16.

In the meantime, his move to Bayern Munich has been in the works, and now, it's finally complete, as the forward signed a five-year deal with the Bundesliga side.

Saibari's now-former club, PSV Eindhoven, earned €55 million from the transfer, while Vincent Kompany has added another lethal attacking weapon to his squad, alongside Harry Kane, Michael Olise, and Luis Diaz.

The Spanish-born Moroccan, who represented only PSV and their reserve team, Jong PSV, in his career, made 142 appearances for the Dutch champions and scored 42 goals in the three years he spent at Philips Stadion.

Naturally, he was thrilled with a transfer to a giant club like Bayern.

"As a child, you dream of signing a contract with a club like FC Bayern – everybody knows it’s one of the world’s biggest clubs. FC Bayern compete for the biggest titles like the Champions League every year, and I want to win as many trophies as possible here."

"FC Bayern’s play suits me, I can play my own style of football here, and I’ll work hard every day to help the team. Coach Vincent Kompany played a key role in my decision – I’m looking forward to working with him," he said via Bayern Munich's official website.

The Bavarians sporting director, Christoph Freund, couldn't hide his excitement at Saibari's arrival.

"Ismael Saibari has won the Dutch championship title with Eindhoven three times in a row, he has Champions League experience and is now demonstrating how valuable he can be for a team at the World Cup, at the highest level."

"He’s versatile, intense and bold in his play, he has the hunger we want to see at FC Bayern and his goal threat and mentality will boost the team. Fans flock to the stadium for players like him,” he stated.

Saibari will wear the number 34 shirt at Bayern and will join his teammates once Morocco's World Cup campaign ends.
