Shikangwa leaves Simba having scored an impressive 62 goals across four seasons

Tanzania Women Premier League champions, Simba Queens, have bid an emotional farewell to Harambee Starlets striker Jentrix Shikangwa after confirming her departure to Egyptian Women's Premier League side FC Masar.

The Kenyan international has signed a two-year contract with the Egyptian outfit, bringing to an end a successful four-year spell at the Msimbazi-based club, where she established herself as one of East Africa's most prolific forwards.

Speaking exclusively to Citizen Digital, Simba Queens Sporting Director Selemani Makanya revealed that the club had hoped to retain the striker but opted not to stand in her way after she received an attractive offer from Egypt as her contract neared its expiry.

“We have officially released her for Masaf FC after her contract with us comes to an end. We were engaging her for a new contract but through her manager she got a good offer in the Egyptian side and as our culture, we don’t deny a player opportunity for growth, that’s why we released her,” he told Citizen Digital.

“She is a very talented player with great striking skills and we wish her all the best in Masar. Simba is always her home and if she feels in future to return back then we will welcome her as we did in January 2024 when her contract with Chinese Side Beijing Professional FC elapsed.”

Shikangwa leaves Simba having scored an impressive 62 goals across four seasons, playing a pivotal role in the club's domestic dominance.

She netted 21 league goals during the 2025-26 campaign as Simba Queens secured another Tanzania Women Premier League title.

Her journey to becoming one of the region's standout attackers began at Wiyeta Girls before spells with Vihiga Queens, Turkish side Fatih Karagümrük and China's Beijing Professional FC.

She rejoined Simba in January 2024 after her stint in China and quickly rediscovered her scoring touch.

At international level, Shikangwa has been a regular for Harambee Starlets and announced herself on the regional stage by finishing as the top scorer at the 2019 CECAFA Women's Championship with 10 goals.

However, she was left out of Kenya's squad for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, set to be held in Morocco from July 25 to August 16.

She now joins ambitious Egyptian side FC Masar, formerly known as Tutankhamun FC.

Based in Giza, the club has emerged as one of the continent's leading women's teams, competing in both the Egyptian Women's Premier League and the CAF Women's Champions League.

Their recent achievements include a third-place finish at the 2024 CAF Women's Champions League and a nomination for CAF Women's Club of the Year in 2024.

Shikangwa departs as one of several Kenyan stars who have featured for Simba Queens in recent seasons, alongside Corazone Aquino, Fasila Adhimbo, Elizabeth Wambui, Ruth Ingotsi and Cynthia Shilwatso.
