The Democracy for the Citizens deputy party leader landed on a chopper at half time during the finals of the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) pitting Musingu High School and St. Joseph's Boys, Kitale (JOBO).
The event, which occurred on Saturday, 2 August at the Mumias Sports Complex, has now landed the football enthusiast a date with the DCI in Kakamega on Friday, 8 August.
Malala’s move to land with the chopper during the event endangered the lives of the people who attended the match, according to Western Region Police Commander Issa Muhamoud.
"I call upon former Kakamega Senator, Cleophas Malala, to report to the DCI offices before Friday, so that he can make his statement as we go ahead with the investigations," said Muhamoud.
"Therefore, the pilot, the politician and any other accomplices involved in this unauthorised landing will face criminal charges," said the police boss.
In his summon, the police head honcho warned of dire consequences should Malala and the pilot be found guilty of illegal landing.
Mahmoud noted that the charges could range from endangering public safety, trespassing on public land and violation of aviation regulations by the helicopter occupants.
The Cleo Malala Super Cup patron is not new to controversy and DCI summons, as he was also summoned in May in line with his political endeavours.
A month earlier, he was arrested during the Secondary Schools National Drama Festivals in line with his controversial play, Echoes of War, written for Butere Girls High School.
In the KSSSA finals, where he landed with a chopper, JOBO emerged with a 1-0 victory over Musingu to win the KSSSA title for the first time ever.
Shadrack Kiboi rose high to head home a Rixon Simiyu freekick in the 62nd minute to ensure the title heads to Kitale.
