The former Kenya Police FC and Kariobangi Sharks attacking midfielder earned the Man of the Match accolade after playing a pivotal role in Yanga's triumph, further signifying his importance to the club's title ambitions this season.
Abuya was named in Yanga's starting lineup and produced an impressive display throughout the encounter, helping the defending champions overcome a stubborn Fountain Gate side that had frustrated them for much of the opening half.
Following his standout performance, Yanga celebrated the Kenyan midfielder on their official social media platforms, posting: "MAN OF THE MATCH ni Generali Duke Abuya."
The first half ended goalless, with Fountain Gate putting up a disciplined defensive display to deny the league leaders clear scoring opportunities.
Despite dominating possession, Yanga struggled to break down their opponents and were forced to wait until after the break to make their superiority count.
Eight minutes into the second half, the deadlock was finally broken when Ivorian attacker Pacôme Zouzoua found the back of the net in the 53rd minute. The forward calmly slotted home to hand Yanga a deserved lead and ignite celebrations among the home supporters.
The defending champions wasted little time in extending their advantage. Just two minutes later, Angola international Laurindo Dilson Maria Aurélio, popularly known as Depu, doubled Yanga's lead with a well-taken finish, putting the match firmly in their control.
Fountain Gate attempted to fight their way back into the contest and searched for a route back into the game, but Yanga remained composed and managed the closing stages effectively to secure all three points.
The victory saw Yanga return to the top of the Tanzania Premier League standings with 66 points, moving two points clear of arch-rivals Simba SC, who sit second on 64 points.
With three matches remaining before the season concludes, the record Tanzanian champions will be determined to fend off Simba's challenge and clinch a fifth consecutive league title.
Such a feat would also extend Yanga's remarkable record to 32 league championships.
