The experienced shot-stopper confirmed that her chapter with the club had come to an end, expressing gratitude to everyone who played a role in her journey in Greece.

"As my chapter with MSL comes to an end, I leave with nothing but gratitude, respect, and appreciation for everything this club has done for me," Akinyi wrote on her Facebook page.

The former Harambee Starlets goalkeeper reflected on the memories, lessons and relationships she built during her time at the club.

"Throughout this journey, I have created unforgettable memories, faced challenges, celebrated victories, learned valuable lessons, and built friendships that I will always cherish," she added.

Akinyi also thanked the club's management, coaching staff, teammates and supporters for their unwavering support throughout her stay.

"To the management, coaches, my teammates, the amazing fans, and everyone connected to MSL, thank you for your trust, support, and belief in me.

It has been an honour and a privilege to wear this badge and be part of this family."

The goalkeeper concluded her message by wishing MSL Flamingo FC continued success in the years ahead.

"I wish MSL continued growth, success, and many more achievements in the seasons ahead. May the club continue to thrive. Thank you for everything."

Akinyi's departure marks another significant chapter in a career that has seen her become one of Kenya's most accomplished women's goalkeepers.

Born in Nairobi, she began her football journey through grassroots structures, including Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA) and Babadogo United Ladies, before progressing through the domestic ranks.

She later featured for Matuu FC, Spedag FC, Makolanders Ladies and Vihiga Queens, where she played a key role during one of the club's successful periods in the FKF Women's Premier League.

Her performances at the club level earned her national team recognition, with Akinyi receiving her first Harambee Starlets call-up in 2012.

She went on to represent Kenya at the 2016 Women's Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, the country's maiden appearance at the continental showpiece.

Beyond her exploits between the posts, Akinyi has also invested in developing the game off the pitch. The goalkeeper has undertaken coaching courses and has been vocal about the importance of grassroots football development in Kenya.

She is also trained in counselling and psychology, using her experience to advocate for athlete welfare and mental health awareness.

Attention will now turn to her next move as she seeks the next challenge in a career that has spanned more than a decade at both club and international level.
