The Bomet-based plumber promised to make more trips to local matches in the new season

Vincent Kimutai Cheruiyot had never boarded a plane in his life and did not expect that to change this year.

Instead, the 30-year-old envisioned a future built around securing major plumbing contracts and maximising the skills he acquired at Sotik Technical Training Institute between 2020 and 2022, and subsequently honed through years of hands-on experience.

However, Cheruiyot experienced the surprise of a lifetime after winning a fully paid trip to the Coast, where he joined thousands of fans in watching the 2026 Mozzart Bet Cup final at Kwale Stadium.

The trip saw him fly from Nairobi to Mombasa on Saturday, 13 June, before taking to the skies again two days later after the final, which Tusker FC edged Kenya Police FC 2-1 to lift the trophy.

The final was curtain-raised by the third-place playoff encounter between Bandari FC and KCB FC, which the Dockers won 2-0.

What made the experience more memorable was that gaming giants, Mozzart Bet, flew Cheruiyot to the Coast alongside his spouse, Faith Chepkurui, giving the couple a rare opportunity to enjoy both a cup final and their first flight together.

Through a promotion dubbed Twende Budapest Kwale, Mozzart Bet rewarded Cheruiyot with a fully paid trip after correctly predicting the final score of the 2026 UEFA Champions League final between Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain.

Other punters, who also predicted the scoreline correctly, received Arsenal shirts and gift hampers from the gaming giant.

"It was my first time boarding a plane. I had no plans of flying this year, nor did I see an opportunity presenting itself anytime soon.

However, that changed courtesy of Mozzart Bet, and I am grateful for the chance. It was a moment my wife and I will remember for the rest of our lives,” he told Mozzart Sport.

The trip to Kwale not only allowed Cheruiyot to fly for the first time but also presented the chance to watch a football match in a stadium for only the second time.

He revealed that the first match he attended was the FKF Premier League clash between Mozzart Bet-backed APS Bomet and record league champions Gor Mahia at Kericho Green Stadium on Sunday, 15 February.

A self-confessed APS Bomet supporter, Cheruiyot said the trip to Kwale, where he watched both the third-place playoff and the final, rekindled his passion for local football. He promised to make time to attend more matches next season.

"I was impressed with what I saw in Kwale. The two matches were intense, with players expressing themselves well. I will definitely be attending and watching more local matches next season. Hopefully, APS Bomet will win a title in the new season," he added.

APS Bomet, who punched above their weight in the concluded term, enjoy shirt sponsorship from Mozzart Bet.
