Ingwe, who narrowly missed out on the league title last month after finishing second behind rivals Gor Mahia, are already making early moves in the transfer market as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign.
The title race went down to the final stretch, with Gor Mahia edging their long-time nemesis in a tightly contested season.
Determined to mount a stronger challenge for both the league crown and the Mozzart Bet Cup, AFC Leopards have begun rebuilding their squad.
The club last lifted the league title in 1998 and have gone without Mozzart Bet Cup success since 2017, underlining their hunger for silverware.
The first off-season signing is expected to be Lwanga, an experienced and well-travelled midfielder who is set to bring leadership and stability to Fred Ambani’s side.
The Uganda international is close to sealing his switch to the FKF Premier League for the 2026–27 season.
Lwanga joins after an impressive spell with Vipers SC, where he played a key role in securing their eighth Uganda Premier League title.
He featured in 23 of the 30 league matches, anchoring the midfield with consistency as they lifted the championship.
Renowned for his defensive discipline and ability to transition play from defence to attack, Lwanga is viewed as a major boost for AFC Leopards as they look to reinforce key areas following their second-place finish in the FKF Premier League.
The midfielder brings vast experience from across the continent, having previously featured for Vipers SC, SC Villa, APR FC, Simba SC, and Tanta SC.
Beyond Lwanga, Leopards are also in talks with Kariobangi Sharks duo Kevin-Luke Otiala and Sebastian Wekesa, while Mara Sugar’s Robinson Musungu is also reported to be close to a move to the Den as the club continues its squad overhaul.
