Like a majority of players in the team, Odhiambo is a military man who is attached to the light infantry battalion of the Kenya Army, headquartered at Moi Barracks in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.

The former Sony Sugar custodian took a break from football in 2022 after being sent for a peacekeeping mission in Mandera County, but was later transferred to various missions, including the latest in Lamu County under the multi-agency Operation Amani Boni (OAB).

With his military service to the nation, Odhiambo's career on the pitch suffered a blow as he stayed away from active football all that time, occasionally taking part in the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) internal tournaments.

With Ulinzi assembling a fresh squad for the new season, they have looked within to find a solution to their goalkeeping issues, as confirmed by the club.

“Timothy Odhiambo makes his much-anticipated return to the Ulinzi Stars family. Ready for new battles, new victories, and to give his all for the badge.

Welcome back, Timothy!” Ulinzi Stars posted on their Facebook page.

With the slow but sure exit from active football by captain James Saruni, Ulinzi have been in search of a goalkeeper and with such quality within, the Danstan Nyaudo-led team have opted for the services of the Harambee Stars custodian.

The shot-stopper might be lacking match fitness after three years out, but Ulinzi has been giving him special attention through their fitness coach in order to get him back on track, most importantly, to avoid injuries.

With his return, Odhiambo is expected to battle for the number 1 jersey with veteran goalkeeper James Saruni as well as Sylvain Ricks.

Apart from Odhiambo, the military outfit has also been boosted by the return of defender Bonventure Muchika, who had equally left for a military assignment

Other players confirmed at Ulinzi include Leonlevit Otieno from Kariobangi Sharks, Paul Okoth from Migori Youth, the returning Masita Masuta and Andrew Otunda.
