The club’s medical team confirmed that Oluoch, who leads K’Ogalo’s scoring chart this campaign with seven goals, underwent surgery to repair an osteochondral injury and a torn meniscus. Team doctor Brian Odongo provided details on the procedure and expected recovery timeline.
“Felix Oluoch successfully underwent knee surgery for an osteochondral injury and torn meniscus yesterday. He is stable and is expected to return to play in 12 weeks, depending on his rehabilitation progress and recovery milestones achieved,” Odongo stated.
With the transfer window closed, head coach Charles Akonnor will now rely on the squad at his disposal, placing the responsibility of leading the line on Ebenezer Assifuah.
“Felix is now out, probably until next season. Ebenezer Assifuah is our main striker, and we have to manage him carefully to navigate the remaining matches without a major setback,” Akonnor said.
The coach also hinted at reinforcements once the transfer window reopens, emphasizing the need to strengthen the squad to compete at higher levels.
“We may have to add another striker when the window opens as we aim to raise our standards for bigger competitions,” he added.
Akonnor admitted that the situation presents a considerable challenge but expressed confidence in his squad’s ability to adapt. He stressed the importance of making sound decisions under pressure.
“It’s challenging, but such are the situations we face. We will have to make certain decisions to balance the team while maintaining focus through the season. Depending on the circumstances, we will make choices that are of great significance to the squad,” Akonnor stated.
Gor Mahia currently sits at the top of the standings with 49 points, enjoying a six-point advantage over AFC Leopards. As the pressure intensifies, the coach believes the psychological strength of his players will be key to maintaining their lead.
“At this stage, mental toughness is crucial, and that’s something we have trained our players on. They know what to do and when. The focus is on winning, and that requires making the right decisions on and off the pitch,” he concluded.
