Classy Jude on his Player of the Match award: I didn't deserve it, a Ghanaian should have won it

The England star used a post-match interview to once more pay his respects to the Black Stars, who held the mighty Three Lions to a goalless draw

Whether it was because of the Ghanaian spiritualist Nana Kwaku Bonsam, who had "tied" Harry Kane, because of England's bad day in the office, or Carlos Queiroz's exceptional defensive tactics - it doesn't matter. The bottom line is that the Black Stars have caused one of the biggest upsets of the 2026 World Cup, holding off the mighty Three Lions to a goalless draw.

And while the football public was admiring the African side, which turned their penalty area into a fortress almost impossible to breach, recognition came from the opposition as well.

Jude Bellingham was named Player of the Match and, as is customary, gave a brief interview in which he didn't hold back his praise for the Ghanaians when asked how he felt about the award.

"Yeah, I didn't deserve it, to be honest. It probably should have gone to one of their lads, who defended so well."

"I had a couple of moments. It was hard to get in the game, and I'm grateful for whoever voted, but it probably should have gone to one of their lads that defended so well."

"So, fair play to them," Bellingham said via the BBC.

In an era where criticism of opponents is more common than praise, the Real Madrid star once again showed what a true sporting great he is.

The disappointment of the draw did not diminish his honesty and respect for the Ghana players, who indeed gave it all on the pitch.

Hats off to you, Jude. This was a classy gesture.
