Bellingham covered mouth while talking to Ayew, but wasn’t sent off for that, unlike Almiron before. Black Stars boss thinks they should have been awarded a penalty too
Ghana displayed resilience, bravery, and tactical discipline last night, earning a deserved point against England in their World Cup group-stage clash. However, there was a strong sense of injustice, as several controversial moments and decisions could - and should - have changed the game's outcome. Both ended up favouring the Three Lions.
First and foremost, there's footage showing England star Jude Bellingham covering his mouth while talking to Ghana's Jordan Ayew, which should have been sanctioned with a red card, as it was previously with Paraguay's Miguel Almiron. The former Newcastle United forward was sent off for doing the same thing in the game against Turkey.
Same World Cup, one was sent off. The other didn’t even get a warning.

New rule says: “Any player who covers their mouth with a hand, arm or shirt during a confrontation with an opponent can now be punished with a red card.” pic.twitter.com/RGmRyMTtux
He also had a heated exchange with Ghana's coach Carlos Queiroz and his staff before halftime.
After committing a harsh foul near the dugouts without being booked, Bellingham and Queiroz got into an argument as the teams headed to the tunnel.
The Ghana boss, who outsmarted his much younger colleague Thomas Tuchel, didn't mince words in the aftermath of the game, criticising referees for another controversial decision in the second half.
Did Ghana deserve a penalty for this?🤔

Queiroz is convinced that his team should also have been awarded a penalty late in the game, as Ezri Konsa hit Ghana's forward, Prince Adu, in the box without clearing the ball.
He questioned whether VAR was still functioning, expressing frustration at the lack of a penalty decision.
"I'm not sure VAR is still working in the World Cup. We still have VAR? It's working?" said Queiroz.
"I have some doubts about that because another penalty that they need give to Ghana, a clear penalty against England [was missed]. They're lucky. They're very lucky.
"It was a clear penalty, red card. You have any doubts about that? You guys who saw the game have any doubts about that or is it only me that was in the game?
"I'm sorry for my sarcasm, but if I say these kind of things seriously they punish me, so I hope you understand that I'm joking."
