FKF Premier League side Bidco United has announced significant changes to its technical bench as part of a wider strategic overhaul aimed at improving the club’s long-term performance and development.

In a bold restructuring move, the club has brought in former Posta Rangers and KCB coach Benard Kawinzi as the new first team assistant coach.

Sammy Koko, currently serving as the Harambee Stars U-20 goalkeeper trainer, assumes the role of goalkeeper coach with added responsibilities in youth development.

Speaking on the changes, head coach Anthony Akhulia confirmed that Bidco United is adopting a more structured, European-style coaching model, designed to streamline operations and enhance technical efficiency.

"We have made changes to our technical bench, which is more of a European system. I will take up the manager role with added duties in regards with youth development, with Kawinzi in charge of the first team first assistant coach and Koko overseeing the goalkeeping department.

This setup allows for a more specialized approach and better delegation of duties,” he said.

Kawinzi’s appointment marks his return to the dugout, seven months after leaving Posta Rangers, while Koko is back in club football just two months after his exit from KCB, following the expiry of his contract.

The restructuring has also seen former assistant coach Sam Nganga reassigned as second assistant coach, while former goalkeeper coach Collins Agik transitions to the trainer role.

Nelson Chieta takes charge as the strength and conditioning coach, Lambert Oyuga assumes duties as kits manager while Dominic Nduta retains his position as physiotherapist.

In a symbolic transition from pitch to backroom, long-serving captain Peter Nzuki has retired from active football and now takes up the role of team manager.

He replaces Stephen Waruru, who reverts to his previous position as safety and security officer.

"This system has been necessitated by added responsibilities, particularly around youth development. While I remain the overall coach and will still be on the touchline, this structure enables us to plan more sustainably for the future," he explained.

The changes come as Bidco United seeks to turn the page on a difficult 2024/25 season, during which they narrowly escaped relegation with a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over Sofapaka on the final day.

Looking ahead, Akhulia revealed that the club is shifting its recruitment strategy, opting to tap into lower-tier divisions for new talent.

"We are actively recruiting, but with a different approach this time. Our focus will be on players outside the traditional FKF-PL pool , untapped, raw talent that we can nurture.

This is not just about the coming season, but about building a formidable side for the years ahead," he added.
