Gor Mahia have confirmed that defender Kennedy Onyango will no longer be part of the team, following the expiry of his two-year contract.
Onyango, 36, has been with K’Ogalo since July 2023, spending two seasons, and helping the club clinch the 2023-2024 FKF Premier League title.

Gor Mahia confirmed his exit on Friday, 8 August saying: “Kennedy Onyango will be departing following the conclusion of his contract.”
Onyango’s triumphant first season saw him lead Gor Mahia to recording the meanest defense in the league, after Johnathan McKinstry’s side conceded just 13 goals on their way to their 21st title.
His second season paled in comparison however, as the former Kakamega Homeboyz man struggled for game time, before ultimately suffering a season-ending injury in April this year.
Onyango, in one of his rare starts, sustained a complete fracture of his tibia and fibula bones against KCB, following a first-half collision with goalkeeper Gad Matthews.
That now looks to have been his last game in a Gor Mahia shirt, with the club however, confirming that the defender would still access medical cover to help in his long recovery journey.
“In keeping with our dedication to player welfare, he (Onyango) will retain access to the club’s medical cover to support his recovery,” Gor Mahia noted in their brief statement.
“All the best, Kennedy - get well soon!”

Onyango, who had spent three seasons with Nairobi City Stars before crossing over to Gor Mahia, becomes the fourth confirmed member to exit the club, following the public departures of winger Samuel Onyango, defender Boniface Onyango, and midfielder Rodgers Ouma.
The developments come as part of a major plan by the club’s hierarchy to initiate a fresh rebuild, highlighted last week by the appointment of a new technical bench led by Ghanaian manager Charles Akonnor.
