Katasi was sensational for AFC Leopards in the recently-concluded season as the club went on to finish second in the FKF Premier League (FKFPL).

The former Nzoia Sugar FC goalkeeper’s performance has since attracted interest from various clubs, primarily from Ingwe’s sworn enemies Gor Mahia, who have reportedly secured his signature.

With the transfer causing a fuss online, Leopards chairman Boniface Ambani has finally come out to explain the ongoing saga.

“As far as we are concerned, he is still our player, and we expect him back for pre-season.

We had a talk with him where he came up with a figure that we asked him to give us time to discuss. If we agree, well and good. If we do not agree, it is also okay,” Ambani told Buzz Sports.

Nonetheless, Ambani has insisted that AFC Leopards will not stand in the way of any player who wishes to leave the club.

“One thing, though, we do not force players to stay if they have a better offer; we allow them to leave, but from where I sit, we still have upcoming talks,” he added.

According to reports, talks between the shot stopper and Leopards broke down after the two failed to agree on personal terms.

The Leopards supremo went ahead to shed light on what might have caused an impasse between the club and Katasi.

“Sometimes, you cannot just push yourself because you want to please somebody. It does not work like that.

At the end of the day, the club has bills to pay in terms of salaries, pre-season, treatment and the rest. It is never about an individual. If we cannot agree, we part ways,” he remarked.

Should Katasi complete his move to K’Ogalo, he will follow in the footsteps of former AFC Leopards vice captain Lewis Bandi, who crossed over in the last off-season transfer window and add to the rivalry between the two sides.
