Ahead of the new campaign, Mozzart Sport takes a look at the 18 tacticians who will be tasked with leading their respective teams.

Charles Akonnor - Gor Mahia

After a dismal performance in the 2024/25 season, Gor Mahia dismissed the entire technical bench.

Unlike their tradition in recent times, K’Ogalo then looked within the continent for a replacement and subsequently, hired 51-year-old former Ghana national team head coach Charles Akonnor.

The former Asante Kotoko manager will certainly hope to recapture the league crown and boss the Mashemeji Derby.

Fred Ambani - AFC Leopards

AFC Leopards confirmed Fred Ambani as their substantive head coach before the start of the season.

The former Brooke Bond FC striker had been serving in an acting capacity since November 2024 following the exit of Tomas Trucha.

Fred, who is the elder brother of the club’s chairman, Boniface Ambani, will seek to win the club's first league title since 1998.

Interestingly, the last time Ingwe won the league, Fred was a player and the league’s top scorer.

He will be aiming to win it as a coach and maintain his unbeaten record in the Mashemeji Derby.

Peter Okidi - Shabana FC

Peter Okidi had a splendid 2024/25 season with Shabana, turning the team from relegation candidates to a fifth-place finish.

The team’s faithful can only hope that he will guide them to contest for the league title in the new season.

Etienne Ndariyagije - Kenya Police FC

Burundian tactician Etienne Ndariyagije was undoubtedly the most successful coach last season.

The former Tanzanian national team head coach lifted Police from the jaws of relegation all the way to the podium last season.

The soft-spoken gaffer will seek to retain the league title and reclaim the Mozzart Bet Cup, last won in 2024.

Patrick Odhiambo - Kakamega Homeboyz

Mozzart Bet-sponsored Kakamega Homeboyz will be managed by Patrick Odhiambo, who makes a return to the club after a season.

Odhiambo replaced Francis Baraza, who crossed over to Tanzanian side, Pamba Jiji at the end of last season , where Homeboyz finished third.

Michael Nam - APS Bomet

Experienced tactician Michael Nam will be in charge of FKF Premier League newbies APS Bomet.

Nam, who served as an assistant coach at Gor Mahia, was among those hit by the purge at K'Ogalo.

He, however, found a new home at Bomet.

Kennedy Odhiambo - Bandari FC

Bandari kept their faith in former Harambee Stars assistant coach Ken Odhiambo despite reports suggesting that the club was keen on bringing another tactician on board.

Odhiambo will be keen to improve on the eighth position that the team finished in the 2024/25 season.

Antony Akhulia - Bidco United

Antony Akhulia will continue with his role as the head coach of Bidco United.

However, he will have more roles this season, including youth development in the club.

The changes came after Bidco adopted a new model, which is largely employed by European clubs.

Akhulia will be assisted by former Pasta Rangers head coach Benard Kawinzi.

William Muluya - Kariobangi Sharks

William Muluya continues with his record as the current longest-serving head coach for a single club in the Kenyan top-tier.

Muluya was appointed as Sharks head coach in July 2016.

The former Harambee Stars assistant coach, known for his trust in young players, will be aiming to improve the 11th position the team managed last term.

Robert Matano - KCB FC

Robert Matano makes a return to the Kenyan league after a short stint in Tanzania with Fountain Gate FC.

Matano is the most successful Kenyan coach with four league titles and has been tasked with helping The Bankers win what would be their maiden league title.

Edward Manoah - Mara Sugar FC

Edward Manoah helped the Sugar Millers avoid relegation last season after coming on in the course of the second leg.

John Kamau - Mathare United

John Kamau helped Mathare retain their place at the table of men last season.

Mathare were making a return to the top tier after a season in the National Super League.

Having finished 10th last season, Kamau will be expected to guide the team to at least a top-three finish, according to club CEO Jecton Obure.

Don Otieno - Murang'a Seal

Seal appointed Don Otieno as interim head coach following the departure of Yusuf Chippo.

Otieno, who served as an assistant coach, hopes to start the season well and have his terms upgraded.

Sammy Omollo - Posta Rangers

Posta Rangers brought in Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo in the second leg of last season to help them avoid relegation.

He delivered just that, helping the Mailmen escape relegation.

However, the club is keen to avoid the playoffs and relegation battle this season, a role Omollo is capable of having previously won the league with Tusker FC.

Ezekiel Akwana - Sofapaka

Sofapaka had a good 2024/25 season by all standards, especially having survived through the playoffs in the previous season.

The team finished seventh on the log but lost several key players during the off-season window.

Akwana, who did a white wedding barely a month ago, will be tasked with finding a new rhythm and winning formula once again.

It remains unclear whether he will be allowed to man the touchline, as he does not have a CAF A license.

Charles Okere - Tusker FC

In his maiden season as a head coach in the league, Charles Okere guided Tusker to a fourth-place finish on the log.

However, that was low by Tusker’s standards. The former Harambee Starlets coach will seek to land a title this season.

Dunstan Nyaudo - Ulinzi Stars

Ulinzi Stars, for the second consecutive season, finished 12th on the log, much to the disappointment of the club’s faithful.

Ulinzi, who last won the league in 2010, will still be under Nayudo in the new campaign.

Nicholas Muyoti

Muyoti will be in charge of debutants, Nairobi United.

Just like Akwana, Muyoti does not hold a CAF A badge, and it will be interesting to see whether he will be allowed to man the touchline.
