The undisputed queen of 1500m Faith Kipyegon shared six highlights she was grateful for after visiting the Nike Sport Research Lab.

The middle-distance star took the crown at the Athlos New York City women-only race, crossing the finish line in an impressive 4:04.79.

In addition to the title, Kipyegon walked away with a prize of Ksh7.7 million, rounding off an extraordinary season that saw her cement her dominance on the global athletics stage.

However, before heading home to enjoy a well-earned rest with her family, Kipyegon was treated to an unforgettable experience in Portland, Oregon, courtesy of Nike, the sportswear giant that sponsors her.

Through her social media posts, the double Olympic gold medalist shared her excitement about visiting Nike’s world-class facilities and meeting her Nike family.

"1 and 2 Testing in the Nike Sport Research Lab, 3 Walking into the King James Innovation Center!, 4 Meeting Nike teammates from across World Headquarters!, 5 Spent a morning with the Nike Footwear team on the Michael Johnson track in the woods!, 6 Interviews, 7 Signing the wall of the NSRL," posted Kipyegon.

During her stay, the threepeat 1500m Olympic gold medalist had the chance to test equipment in the Nike Sports Research Lab (NSRL), walked through the iconic LeBron James Innovation Center, and met Nike teammates from across the globe.

One of her highlights was spending a morning with the Nike Footwear team on the Michael Johnson track, nestled within the woods. She also took part in interviews and proudly signed the wall of the Nike Sports Research Lab (NSRL).

The NSRL, housed in the stunning LeBron James Innovation Center, is renowned for pushing the boundaries of athletic performance.

The lab boasts cutting-edge technology, including 400 motion-capture cameras, 97 force plates, and body-mapping equipment, all aimed at elevating athletes’ performance to the next level.

The 84,000-square-foot facility serves as Nike's innovation hub, where research and testing are conducted to create breakthrough products that cater to athletes of all abilities.

The insatiably curious community that works in the space allows for an intersecting mix of talent, from biomechanics researchers and robotics experts to computational designers and patent pros.

In fact, the LeBron James Innovation Center is designed to facilitate collaboration and expeditious prototyping (created in under an hour).

Athletes like Kipyegon are central to the lab's mission of continuous innovation. From the endurance track to the climate chambers that simulate different environments, the facility allows Nike to observe athletes in motion and prototype game-changing products.

With 825 pieces of testing equipment and over 80 new prototyping machines, the NSRL is the epicentre of Nike’s research and development efforts, fueling its leadership in sportswear innovation.
