Notably, Liverpool are unbeaten in their last four Premier League home games against City, while City have not kept a clean sheet in their last six league visits to Anfield

Few fixtures capture the English Premier League spotlight like Liverpool versus Manchester City.

Sunday evening’s Matchday 25 clash at Anfield sees sixth-placed Liverpool chasing redemption after November’s 3-0 defeat in the reverse fixture and looking to revive their Champions League push.

Second-placed City, however, arrive six points behind Arsenal, knowing another stumble could further damage their title hopes amid recent inconsistency.

Liverpool come into this clash buoyed by a much-needed return to winning ways.

After a frustrating run of four straight league draws followed by a damaging defeat to Bournemouth, Arne Slot’s men finally clicked in emphatic fashion following a 4-1 demolition of Newcastle United.

Despite conceding first, goals from Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz inspired a dominant comeback, underlining a growing trait under Slot: resilience.

Since the start of last season, Liverpool have collected 28 Premier League points from losing positions, the fourth-best tally in the division.

From an attacking standpoint, the Reds are hitting a rich vein of form.

They have scored 15 goals across their last four matches in all competitions, averaging over three goals per game in that run.

In their last five league outings, Liverpool have scored nine times and conceded eight, highlighting both their attacking threat and defensive vulnerability.

Sitting sixth in the table with 39 points, they remain firmly in the hunt for Champions League qualification, although consistency remains their biggest obstacle. At Anfield, Liverpool have been strong.

They are unbeaten in their last eight home matches across all competitions, winning five and drawing three, while scoring freely in front of the Kop.

Slot will, however, have to manage several absentees.

Jeremie Frimpong, Conor Bradley and Joe Gomez remain sidelined, meaning further defensive reshuffles are likely.

On the positive side, Wirtz is in outstanding form, registering nine goal contributions in his last 11 matches, while Ekitike continues to impress with his movement and finishing.

Manchester City arrive on Merseyside under pressure.

Pep Guardiola’s side were held to a 2-2 draw by Tottenham last weekend after surrendering a two-goal lead, extending a worrying trend of dropped points.

City have now failed to win five of their last six league matches, allowing Arsenal to open up a six-point gap at the top.

In their last five Premier League games, City have scored eight goals and conceded seven, numbers that reflect a dip from their usual standards.

Away from home, City’s problems are even more pronounced. They are winless in their last three away matches in all competitions and have conceded at least twice in each of those games.

Defensive injuries continue to disrupt Guardiola’s plans, with John Stones, Josko Gvardiol, Mateo Kovacic and Jeremy Doku all unavailable.

Bernardo Silva remains a doubt, while Erling Haaland’s starting role is not guaranteed despite his status as the league’s top scorer.

Historically, this fixture has been finely balanced. Each side has won two of the last six league meetings, with two draws in between.

Notably, Liverpool are unbeaten in their last four Premier League home games against City, while Guardiola's side have not kept a clean sheet in their last six league visits to Anfield.

Key Betting Pointers:

- Four of Liverpool’s last five league games have seen both teams score

- Liverpool have scored two or more goals in five of their last seven home matches

- Man City have scored at least twice in each of their last four matches in all competitions

- Man City have conceded two or more goals in their last three away games.

With both sides boasting elite attacking talent but showing clear defensive flaws, this contest shapes up as an open, high-tempo affair.

Liverpool’s home strength and City’s need for points suggest goals at both ends are likely.
