Strathmore vs Kenya Harlequin

Strathmore Leos kept their Prinsloo 7s title defence on track with a 26-0 victory over Kenya Harlequin in the cup quarterfinals.

Leos showcased clinical finishing and tactical discipline throughout the game to bag the big win.

The students opened the score sheet through Stansilaus Shikoli, who dashed midway through the first half, dotting down under the posts.

The try was converted for the only points of the opening stanza.

After the break, Strathmore turned up the tempo with Samuel Wafula sparking the second-half charge, slicing through Quins’ defence with a brilliant break down the left flank to extend the lead.

Minutes later, Victor Mola sold a clever dummy and cruised over the whitewash, punishing a scrambling Quins defence.

With the result all but sealed, Kenya 7s ace Nygel Amaitsa added the final nail in the coffin, faking a pass and coasting in for the fourth try, which was duly converted to wrap up a 26-0 win.

The result sees Strathmore book a place in the cup semifinals, keeping their hopes alive of defending the Prinsloo 7s crown and staying in contention for the overall National Sevens Circuit.

KCB vs Kabras

KCB Rugby are also through to the Cup semifinals of the 2025 Prinsloo 7s after edging Kabras 17-5 in a tense quarterfinal encounter at the Nakuru Athletic Club.

The Bankers opened their account early through a powerful run from Floyd Wabwire, who bulldozed his way over the whitewash.

Festus Shiasi calmly slotted the conversion to hand KCB a 7-0 lead.

However, Kabras responded almost immediately, with Brian Mutua slicing through the KCB defense to touch down under the posts.

Jackson Siketi’s conversion attempt, though, went wide, keeping KCB narrowly ahead at 7-5 by halftime.

KCB nearly added to their tally early in the second half through captain Vincent Onyala, who was denied just metres from the try line.

But the Bankers kept the pressure on and recycled possession swiftly, setting up Wabwire for his second try of the match at the far corner to extend their lead to 12-5.

With time running out, Onyala made up for his earlier miss with a crucial try near the death to seal the victory and stretch the lead to 17-5.

KCB will now face a stern test in the semifinals as they square off against an in-form Menengai Oilers side.

CUEA Monks vs Mwamba RFC

Catholic Monks reached their first semi-final of the season with a 12-7 win over Mwamba RFC.

The students struck first through Duke Monda, whose converted try made it 7-0.

Mwamba quickly responded, with Norman Nandabi scoring and Dennis Ndayala adding the extras to level the scores.
