
Mwamba oust Menengai Oilers to lift 2022 Driftwood 7s

This is Mwamba's first win of the 7s season
A high flying Mwamba RFC clinched their first tournament of the 2022 National Sevens Circuit after beating Menengai Oilers 19-7 in the third outing of the season to lift the main cup final at Driftwood 7s.
In the two day event played at the Mombasa Sports Club, Kulabu rose from their ruins and went all the way in lifting the main cup final at the very first time that they managed to advance past the quarter final stage.

Having knocked out Homeboyz in the semifinal to set up the finale against the giant slaying Oilers who had beaten defending champions KCB in the other clash, Kulabu found themselves trailing in the match after Mark Kwemoi touched down and converted the first try of the game to give his side a 0-7 lead.

An almost immediate response from Mwamba got the scores back level as Michael Okello powered his way under the centre post, making it easy to restore parity in the game as Daniel Taabu successfully converted.

Taabu, who was crowned the Most Valuable Player in the tournament, then gave his team a first time lead in the match as he scored his team's second try that he successfully converted as well to get the scores to 14-7.
As time ticked on, Chrispine Omondi touched down the game's third unconverted try that handed Mwamba the 19-7 victory in Mombasa
In the 3/4th place final, dethroned champions KCB managed to outwit Homeboyz 21-14 as they walked home with the bronze medal.
