The Kenya Lionesses will compete in Pool B against Madagascar and hosts Ghana, and Mauritius

The Kenya Lionesses squad has been finalized ahead of the Rugby Africa Women’s Sevens tournament, set to take place from November 9-10 at the University of Ghana.

Head coach Dennis Mwanja announced a well-rounded team featuring a mix of emerging talent and experienced players, with hopes of securing a top finish.

Among the newcomers is Faith Livoi, who caught the eye with her performance in the recent Safari Sevens, where the Lionesses clinched second place.

This tournament will mark Livoi’s debut on the national team.

Adding to the squad's strength are returning players Judith Auma, Grace Adhiambo, Christabel Lindo, and Stella Wafula, who missed the Safari Sevens due to their involvement with the Serengeti Elephants in the Rugby 10s Championship.

Freshia Oduor, the top try and points scorer from the Safari Sevens, maintains her spot and is expected to be a key offensive asset.

Also featured in the squad are established regulars Moreen Muritu, Sinaida Mokaya, and Diana Kemunto.

Team captain Sheila Chajira, known for her leadership and on-field versatility, will lead the Lionesses, while speedy Sharon Auma makes her return after recovering from a concussion at the Safari Sevens.

The tournament’s Pool A features defending champions South Africa, who defeated the Lionesses in the 2023 final, alongside Tunisia, Zimbabwe, and Burkina Faso.

The Kenya Lionesses will compete in Pool B against Madagascar and hosts Ghana, and Mauritius. Uganda, Zambia, Senegal, and Côte d’Ivoire make up Pool C.

With the top two teams qualifying for the Challenger Series, the Lionesses will aim to challenge South Africa's dominance and secure a spot in the upcoming series, which could ultimately pave the way for greater international recognition.
