Kenyan rugby giants to clash in Prinsloo Sevens final

KCB Rugby and Kabras RFC will renew their growing rivalry in the 2026 Prinsloo 7s final after both sides emerged victorious in their respective semifinal clashes at the Nakuru Athletics Club on Sunday, 26 July.
The Bankers secured a 24-12 win over Kenya Harlequins to book a second consecutive appearance in the Prinsloo 7s final, while Kabras edged Nondescripts RFC 14-10 in a tense encounter to return to the tournament’s title decider for the first time since 2023.

The final also rekindles memories of last season’s National Sevens Circuit finale, with KCB and Kabras meeting once again after battling in the 2025 Dala 7s final.
KCB overpower Harlequin
Kenya Harlequin made the brighter start, with Patrick Wainaina, who sold a superb dummy before slicing through the KCB defence.
Wainaina added the conversion to hand Quins an early 7-0 advantage.
KCB responded before the halftime whistle when Festus Shiasi crossed over in the left corner to reduce the deficit to 7-5.
The defending National Sevens Circuit champions came out with renewed intensity after the break and quickly took control of the contest.
Floyd Wabwire touched down for KCB’s second try, with the successful conversion giving the Bankers a 12-7 lead.
George Ooro then added another try, although the conversion sailed wide, extending the advantage to 17-7.
KCB wrapped up the victory in spectacular fashion after Vincent Onyala’s perfectly weighted kick-and-chase ended with an offload to captain Elvis Lukusi, who raced over for the fourth try to stretch the lead to 24-7.
Matthew Ouma grabbed a late consolation try for Harlequins, but KCB comfortably held on for a 24-12 victory to seal their place in the final.
Kabras survive Nondies scare
In the day’s second semifinal, Kabras RFC overcame a spirited Nondescripts side 14-10 to keep their hopes of reclaiming the Prinsloo 7s title alive.

Nondies struck first through Charles Odhiambo, who finished off a well-executed scrum move initiated by Rony Omondi to hand his side a 5-0 lead.
Kabras responded through Derrick Ashiundu, who released Rayvon Ambale down the left wing for a converted try that put the Sugarmen ahead 7-5.
The sugarmen extended their advantage soon after when Jackson Siketi finished off a slick offload from Ambale, with the conversion stretching the lead to 14-5.
Nondies refused to go away, with Omondi darting over from a quick tap penalty to cut the deficit to four points at 14-10.
However, Kabras produced a disciplined defensive display in the closing moments to deny Nondescripts another score and secure their place in the final.
The result marks Kabras’ first appearance in the Prinsloo 7s final since 2023, when they defeated Kenya Harlequins to lift the title, while KCB will be chasing back-to-back Prinsloo 7s final appearances.
