The Saudi Pro League continues to splash the cash and lure superstars from around the world—now it's the Colombian's turn
They are not slowing down—and they have no intention of doing so. After making major waves in the transfer market, Al Hilal are preparing for another huge spending spree. The Saudi giants are ready to invest even more this summer and lure another European superstar to the Saudi Pro League. They already have a clear target.
Al Hilal have reportedly set aside a staggering €350 million for summer signings, giving them enough financial firepower to recruit two or three world-class players. Their top priority is already known: Luis Diaz. The Colombian winger is currently the club's No. 1 target, and Al Hilal are prepared to spare no expense to prise him away from Bayern Munich.

The club has been one of the driving forces behind the growing exodus of elite players from Europe's top five leagues. Cost is no obstacle for Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), which owns the country's "Big Four" clubs—Al Ahli, Al Ittihad, Al Nassr, and Al Hilal. Money is not an issue, whether it comes to transfer fees or player salaries.
Al Hilal are determined to reclaim the Saudi Pro League title after two consecutive seasons without lifting the trophy. Club officials believe Díaz could be the difference-maker. At 29, he is considered to be in his prime, still performing at the highest level and far from declining. The only uncertainty is whether he would be willing to leave Bayern Munich and European football.
While that question remains unanswered, several details have already emerged. Most importantly, Al Hilal are expected to open talks with Diaz and are prepared to offer him an astonishing €25 million per season. That would represent a massive increase on his current earnings in Germany, where he reportedly receives around €14 million gross per year, equivalent to roughly €8 million net.
In other words, the Colombian would receive several times more than he currently earns at Bayern.
Al Hilal's plan is to negotiate with the player first, presenting him with the financial package before making any move for Bayern Munich. If Díaz rejects the proposal, the Saudi club will not even begin discussions with the Bundesliga champions.
However, should they receive the player's approval, Al Hilal will immediately submit an opening bid. From their €350 million transfer budget, they are willing to spend up to one-third on Diaz alone. Their initial offer is expected to fall between €120 million and €150 million, as they test Bayern's resolve and attempt to negotiate the best possible deal.

Diaz remains under contract with Bayern Munich for another three years, meaning his own decision will ultimately play a decisive role in whether the transfer becomes a reality.
Like many stars before him, Luis Diaz now appears set to face the difficult choice between sporting ambition and an extraordinary financial offer.
