The circuit is slated for Saturday 7 to Sunday 8 September at the Mombasa Sports Club

The pools of the much-anticipated fifth leg of the 2024 Driftwood 7s have been announced.

The event is slated for Saturday 7 to Sunday 8 September at the Mombasa Sports Club.

In pool A, third-placed KCB Rugby will lock horns with Kenyatta University’s Blak Blad, Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) Rugby and hosts Mombasa RFC.

KCB and MMUST will face off once again after meeting at the final pool match of the Kabeberi 7s.

The Bankers defeated the students 22-5 and the Kakamega-based institution will be keen to avenge.

Blak Blad failed to qualify for the quarterfinal stage during Kabeberi and will be out to pick maximum wins in the Coastal City.

In Pool B, Menengai Oilers, Daystar Falcons, Nondescripts, and Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) Marines will face off.

The Oilers have reached two finals and fallen short, and they will be leaving no stone unturned in amassing maximum points.

Nondies too are on a revenge mission, having missed the quarterfinals of the Kabeberi 7s.

The Marines will be banking on home advantage and familiarization with the hot weather to pick wins.

The Falcons reached the quarterfinals of the Kabeberi 7s and were bundled out by KCB Rugby.

Pool C is arguably the pool of death in the tournament.

It has log leaders Kenya Harlequin, Driftwood 7s defending champions Kabras, Nakuru RFC, and Mwamba.

The Quins will be keen to maintain their top-of-the-table position.

They have consistently reached the semifinals this season.

Kabras on the other hand have had a rollercoaster of performance, crushing out in the Kabeberi 7s quarterfinals. They will be keen to defend their title.

Nakuru has had an impressive run so far and will be out to shine. Mwamba too, sitting at 13th place on the log will be looking to better their performance.

The final Pool D has newly promoted Zetech University, Catholic University of East Africa (CUEA) Monks, Strathmore Leos, and Stallions Rugby.

Meanwhile, the Quins sit pretty on top of the table with 75 points. This solid performance builds on the 58 points they had already earned from the first three tournaments.

Kabras dropped to second place with 73 points, having missed the semi-finals and finishing sixth in Kabeberi.

Felix Ayange’s side earned 12 points in Nairobi, reflecting a dip in their performance.

KCB Rugby are in third place with 67 points, boosted by their first Cup win of the 2024 National 7s Circuit campaign.

Menengai Oilers, who have appeared in back-to-back finals this season, are fourth with 60 points and remain in contention.

The Catholic Monks, currently in impressive form, have moved to fifth place with 55 points following a fourth-place finish at Kabeberi 7s. MMUST hold the sixth position with 49 points.

Strathmore Leos climbed to 44 points after collecting 13 points at Kabeberi 7s, moving above Nakuru RFC and Nondies who have 39 and 35 points.

Daystar Falcons made a notable advancement with their first quarterfinal appearance, moving to 29 points.

Blak Blad are in 11th place with 24 points, followed by Stallions with 18 points.

Mwamba and Homeboyz round out the standings with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
