The two forwards recently secured moves to the Kitwe-based side, with Osoro joining on a two-year deal from FC Talanta after a standout FKF Premier League campaign that saw him bag 16 goals and provide seven assists.
His move followed closely after FKFPL top scorer Shummah signed from Kakamega Homeboyz, adding firepower to Dynamos' attack ahead of the 2025/26 season.
In an exclusive with Mozzart Sport, Were, who holds legendary status in Zambian football, believes the duo has what it takes to succeed if they remain grounded.
“They just need to focus, work hard, and pray. They should emulate what we did. I know it’s not too hard, but because it’s their first time, the first few months might be challenging. However, the teammates are friendly, and Zambians are also very welcoming. If they stay focused, everything will fall into place,” he revealed.
The former Tusker forward made history as the first foreigner to score over 100 goals in the Zambian Premier League during his time with nine-time champions Zesco United.
At the club, he clinched four league titles, two ABSA Cup championships, and two Charity Shields, while also playing a pivotal role in helping the club reach the CAF Champions League semi-finals.
He later joined Kansanshi Dynamos, where he quickly established himself as the club’s top scorer with eight goals and six assists in a single season before returning to Zesco for a final one-year stint.
In 2024, after eight years away, Were made a triumphant return to the Kenyan top flight with Police and helped them secure their first-ever FKF Premier League title in his debut season.
Reflecting on the title-winning season, the dreadlocked striker credited the team’s success to a positive and united dressing room atmosphere, noting that it created the right environment for players to thrive.
He also highlighted the importance of experience within the squad, noting that several seasoned players brought leadership and composure when it mattered most.
Among the key figures were former Posta Rangers captain Brian Musa, ex-Tusker defender Daniel Sakari, former Gor Mahia skipper Kenneth Muguna, ex-AFC Leopards midfielder Marvin Nabwire, and former Tusker playmaker Eric Zakayo, whose presence added depth and maturity to the team’s title charge.
“The team, the dressing room atmosphere, and the coach all played a huge role in our success. Most of us had experience and understood the league well. We had to approach it one game at a time. It was not easy, the competition was tough, but it was a truly amazing experience for me.
We took time to sit down, strategize, and maintain a happy, united dressing room. That team spirit is what helped us lift the title,” he uttered.
