The experienced tactician, who took over the reins back in December, believes the club’s recent transfer business has positioned the newly promoted side to stave off relegation.

In the recently concluded window, APS Bomet emerged as one of the league’s busiest clubs, bringing in 10 new players in a bid to stabilise the ship and bolster their top-flight credentials.

Among the standout acquisitions were the signings of one-time Mozzart Bet Cup champion Hillary Otieno from Kakamega Homeboyz, two-time FKFPL champion Sydney Wahongo from Gor Mahia, and seasoned defenders Hillary Wandera and Benard Ouma, both of whom bring significant top-flight experience.

Other additions included Frank Mandela and Maxwell Muchisia (on loan) from Shabana FC, Tusker duo George Ochieng and Curtis Wekesa, 2023/24 NSL top scorer Philemon Nyakwaka, and promising youngster Denzel Omollo from Vision FC.

“These were quality signings,” Omollo told Mozzart Sport in an exclusive interview.

“Players like Curtis, Seba, Bernard, and Maxwell will give us the confidence and quality we need. I am certain they will steer us to safety.

"Where I am sitting, we will play in the FKFPL next season. That I can assure you, based on the performance and character of the lads and the restructuring we have done,” added the one-time FKFPL title-winning coach with Tusker FC in 2011.

The signings signals APS Bomet’s determination to rewrite their season after a challenging start.

The Mozzart Bet-backed side was promoted to the FKFPL this season following a second-place finish behind Nairobi United in the 2024/25 National Super League (NSL) final standings.

Omollo is no stranger to relegation battles. Last season, he guided Posta Rangers to retain their FKFPL status via relegation playoffs, defeating Naivas FC 2-1 over two legs.

In the 2023/24 season, he saved Shabana FC from relegation, finishing 14th with 38 points, just two clear of the playoff zone.

APS Bomet currently sit 15th on the log, just above the automatic relegation spots, trailing safety by a narrow margin of a single point.

Their survival hopes took a dent after a 2-1 defeat to Gor Mahia on Sunday, 15 February, a result that deepened the urgency of their fight to remain in the top flight.

Looking ahead, APS Bomet will aim to bounce back when they take on defending league champions Kenya Police at the Police Sacco Stadium on Sunday, 21 February.
