AFC Leopards chairman Boniface Ambani has fired back at a section of fans and club members who have been critical of his administration, accusing them of having selective amnesia.

The former Kenya international was voted in as chairman in a club election held on Sunday, 29 June, taking over from Dr Dan Shikanda, whose two terms came to an end.
Ambani came into office with the promise of draining the swamp allegedly left by the previous administration and taking Leopards back to their glory days, including ending their 28-year wait for a league title.
However, barely four months into his tenure, his administration has faced widespread criticism from a section of supporters, a matter that was worsened by their poor start to the season, which has seen them draw all three matches.
Once again, the former Young Africans (Yanga) striker took to his Facebook account to share his thoughts on the team.
“While they (previous administration) were chewing this club silently, because you had tamed them, you were all quiet.
When they were calling it ing'ombe ya Senje (auntie's cow), you never asked questions, because they belonged to a plate you shared,” reads the opening part of Ambani's long rant.
The former Leopards striker went ahead to elucidate the club’s rot over the past years under the previous administration.
“This club has been in HDU if not ICU…When they were chewing players' allowances, salaries and signing fees, you were all quiet.
When the club was shoved from one court to the other, for wrongful termination of players' contracts and coaches, you were all quiet as the club was subjected to hefty fines.
When they signed unscrupulous training ground deals, you were all silent,” he added.
On the training ground issue, the club previously trained at Jamhuri Grounds following the appointment of former coach Tomas Trucha until this season, when they shifted back to Don Bosco in Karen.
Leopards signed a training ground agreement with the Kenya School of Law (KSL) that would, among others, allow the club to train within its premises while maintaining the ground, which is currently under renovation.
Ambani went ahead to slam his critics for the mess in gate collections and for using the club for personal gain.
“When you were paying gate collections to individual Mpesa accounts, you were so silent and happy about it, because your plates were full.
When they continued to fleece Western leaders for their own benefits, not the club's benefit, you all kept quiet and clapped.”
The former Mara Sugar FC technical director also lamented the sorry state of the women's and the youth teams that were neglected.
“When the ladies' team was suffering, lacking even the very basic needs, plus the junior team dubbed The Cubs, you were all mute and kept watching with a smile.
When the club buses were nearly being auctioned and club bank accounts frozen, you saw it, heard and kept quiet. No words.
When the club left debts all over this country, starting from Hotel bills, office rent etc, you never asked those tough questions. You were just there watching, coz your plate was being serviced. Nchi ya kitu Kidogo (a corrupt country).”
After listing the rot in the club, the tough-talking head honcho was bullish that his administration would not lose track of its mission of transformation.
“Now you've woken up thinking you're going to intimidate me to fall prey to your gimmicks. You've opened pseudo accounts, thinking I will be shaken.
You can create even a million of them. I won't be shaken. This club has suffered for a long time. Together with NEC, we shall fix all that mess
Only 4 months in office, we have been able to sort out most of those messes and bring back sanity in this club,” he continued.
The former AFC Leopards youth coach went ahead to explain how his administration is handling the alleged ills of his predecessor.
“The way I am dealing with the mess left behind, I will not allow you to joke around. Do not think I will be intimidated.
So many court cases that the club officials could have avoided to save the club from losing millions and millions of shillings. Where could we be now as a club? Ing'ombe Ya Senje is being rescued.
The mess is just beyond your thinking. I have been forced to call all those former players with court cases to go slow, plus former coaches,” said Ambani.
The Leopards chairman went ahead to express his faith in all members of his administration.
“Last but not least, I have a very, very competent NEC; Secretary General Mulindi (Isaac), Treasurer Lime (Newton) and CEO Namai (Ronald). We shall continue to fix Ingwe. No relenting.
Relax, AFC will unleash its claws very soooooon. It's walking stealthily. We are sharpening those claws,” he concluded.
