The Soldiers went ahead early through Masita Masuta, who scored for the second consecutive match after a brilliant run and cut-back from Brian Birgen.

The lively start suggested Ulinzi were on course to finally secure their first home win of the season.

Bandari, however, clawed their way back, with Darius Msagha scoring his first goal of the campaign to level the match and frustrate the home side.

The draw marked Bandari’s sixth of the season, while Ulinzi’s search for a home victory continues.

After the final whistle, Ocholla expressed disappointment, noting that the match was one they had fully targeted for maximum points.

It was a game we expected to fetch all three points, but the draw put us in a difficult position because if we won, we could have climbed two or three positions up the table,” he said.

The coach was candid about the equaliser, pointing to defensive errors that proved costly.

I would say they were mistakes, largely individual ones, from the defender and the keeper,” he admitted.

Based on the results, there is still more to be done to make it difficult for visitors to secure points, especially on our aggression and intent.

Despite the setback, Ocholla remains optimistic about the team’s progress.

Every day there is improvement, and we will strive to earn three points each and every game moving forward.

On the opposite bench, Bandari head coach Mohammed Borji once again decried the long hours of travel they endure for away matches in the Premier League.

The Moroccan says the travel fatigue leaves his charges struggling to settle mentally and unable to deliver positive results.

Once again, we have had to travel long hours to come to this match, and it is leaving us very fatigued.

We are struggling to mentally settle into the game because of this tiredness. This is the situation we are dealing with right now,” Borji said.

He first raised the issue after their 3-1 loss to Nairobi United on Tuesday, 4 November, at Dandora Stadium, blaming travel exhaustion for the poor outing.

As a result, Bandari are still winless away from home this season, a trend Borji admits is worrying.

Apart from the travel strain, the Moroccan also highlighted their struggles in attack as another concern.

I am disappointed with the draw today… Our attack is also not at the level we want it to be. Maybe in the January transfer window, it is an area we will seek to upgrade,” the 44-year-old noted.

On a positive note, Borji lauded the talent in his squad.

We have a lot of players with a good future because of their talents. This is an exciting project that could turn out great,” he added.

Bandari now travel to Western Kenya to face APS Bomet on Sunday.

They lie 11th on the log with 12 points from 10 games, while Ulinzi Stars sit seventh with 13 points from the same number of matches.
