Ouma was called up by Harambee Stars head coach Benni McCarthy for back-to-back November international friendlies against Senegal and Equatorial Guinea.

However, the attacking midfielder was a no-show in either match as Kenya lost 1-0 to Equatorial Guinea before suffering an 8-0 thrashing at the hands of Senegal.

Reports from Poland indicate that Ouma did not travel with Harambee Stars to Turkey for the back-to-back friendly matches due to injury and was scheduled to return to Lech Poznań for a routine club check-up.

Instead, the midfielder requested to remain in Kenya to attend to serious personal matters, a request that his club reportedly granted.

Despite the arrangement, Ouma has not resumed club duties even a week after Lech Poznań returned to action post-international break.

The 21-year-old missed the team’s emphatic 4-1 win over Radomiak Radom, a victory that brought Poznań within six points of league leaders Górnik Zabrze, though with a match in hand.

Poland's KKSLech.com reported on Tuesday, 25 November, that Ouma’s return date remains uncertain.

"Timothy Ouma has still not returned to our country, and worst of all, it’s unclear when he’ll arrive in Poznań. The footballer presented a credible-sounding story to the sporting director and coach, claiming he was supposed to be dealing with 'his business' in Kenya.

He is scheduled to arrive in Poznań next week, but his exact arrival date remains unknown," the report stated.

The midfielder’s absence sparked concern among a section of the club’s fans, prompting Lech Poznań’s media liaison officer, Adrian Gałuszka, to address the matter on his X account:

"After our agreement, Timo stayed in his country last week. We remained in constant contact with him, and today he is landing in Poznań. He is healthy, and from tomorrow he will be training with the rest of the team," Gałuszka said.

This development marks the second time Ouma has delayed his return to club duties following national team commitments.

Earlier in March, the former Nairobi City Stars midfielder, while turning out for Salvia Prague before his loan to Lech, remained in Kenya for over three weeks after participating in Kenya’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Gabon, citing visa challenges as the reason for the extended stay.
