The Brewers had been without the midfielder for close to six weeks after he suffered an ankle injury

Tusker FC have received a massive boost ahead of their FKF Premier League tie against Mara Sugar, with Harambee Stars midfielder Chris Erambo fully returning to the squad.

The Brewers had been without the midfielder for close to six weeks thanks to an ankle injury.

Head coach Charles Okere told the club’s website that he was delighted to have the former Mombasa Elite man back in the fold.

Erambo marked his return last Saturday as a second-half substitute in Tusker’s 1-0 defeat to Gor Mahia at Kasarani Stadium.

Before that match, he had featured briefly against KCB and Posta Rangers, both games Tusker also lost.

The midfield powerhouse had only played the first two matches of the season before aggravating the ankle injury he picked up during the African Nations Championship (CHAN) campaign with the national team.

It is a good welcome back for Erambo. He is a tactical and technical player with a good command on and off the ball. We are happy with his progress and that he is finally back,” Okere said.

The former Tusker Youth coach added that Erambo is of national team calibre, and his return gives the Brewers a significant lift.

He got a few minutes against Gor and it was a good first step in getting fully back in.

We are pleased with the progress he has made this week. He is a player of national team quality and a great addition to our camp,” Okere noted.

Erambo’s return is timely for Tusker, especially following the departure of Issa Lumumba and the current injury to defender Dennis Iguma.

Okere also provided an update on the Ugandan international, who sustained an ankle sprain during the final training session before facing Gor Mahia.

Iguma is a very important player in our set-up this season and it is unfortunate that he picked a knock and has been ruled out. He is responding well to treatment and the medical team is doing its best to ensure he returns soon,” he explained.

Iguma will miss the trip to Awendo for Saturday’s clash against Mara Sugar but is expected to resume on-field training next week.

Tusker head to Awendo desperate to turn their fortunes around.

After going six games unbeaten, the Brewers have now suffered back-to-back defeats and slipped to tenth on the 18-team log with 12 points.
