Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard is monitored by the Foxes and the Gunners

The Foxes coach Brendan Rodgers really liked Kelechi Iheanacho. In fact, he likes the Nigerian striker so much, he want’s to pair him with another Nigerian. Problem is, Arsenal is after him too. Odsonne Edouard will be sought come June. Celtic striker is only 23 years old, he has only one year left on his contract, so the price will be around 20-25 million euros. Not much, considering the prices for strikers, and certainly not much for a possible Champions League participant like Leicester.

On the other side there is Arsenal. No doubt a bigger time, who could offer him a bigger wage, but the Gunners are not doing great this season, and they will probably stay out of Europe for the next season. Also, if they fail to win the Europa League this season, which is highly likely, Mikel Arteta could get the sack. In other words: instability. Also, to facilitate the transfer, Arsenal would have to sell either Alexandre Lacazette or Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang first. Lacazette would be a safer bet (younger and on a less wage), but that would mean that Odsonne Edouard would have to fill in immediately. which could be a burden for a player still scoring „only“ in the Scottish League.

If he signs for the Foxes, he would certainly get European football next season (something he is used with Celtic), and he would reunite with the former Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers. Also, his countrymen Kelechi Iheanacho would be there to ease the transition. Edouard would probably start as the third option, behing Luke Vardy and Iheanacho, as undisputed leaders (for the time being). There are four competitions in which Leicester will play next seasons, so he would certainly get his minutes, and it should be considered that Vardy is already 31-years old. The current number one striker has scored only one goal in last 16 games, while Iheanacho netted 9 goals in six appearances, including a double against West Ham. Odsonne Edouard has scored 16 goals in 26 Scottish Premiership appearances so far, and he could soon change the club.
