The Three Lions easily brushed aside Costa Rica 3-0, while Ronaldo and Co. had troubles against tricky Nigeria, but eventually triumphed 2-1
England are heading to North America determined to finally "bring it home", and, based on their final warm-up match, they are ready to fight for the trophy.
The game against Costa Rica was by no means a true measure of the Three Lions' strength, but as long as they approach every clash with the necessary seriousness, they shouldn't have problems.
Last night, they certainly didn't have them, as they easily brushed aside the national team that will miss its first World Cup since 2010 - 3-0.
Thomas Tuchel's squad did not produce particularly attractive football, but that's already become their style and, as long as they win, their supporters won't mind.
The new England vice-captain Declan Rice broke the deadlock just nine minutes into the game, after a timely pass from Anthony Gordon, who was by far the best member of Tuchel's side, showing a level of confidence that suggests his move to Barcelona has done him a world of good.
Another Arsenal player could have put his name on the scoresheet before the break, but Noni Madueke managed to miss the empty goal and hit the post.
In the second half, Tuchel made a number of substitutions, while Gordon was rewarded for his excellent display with a spot-kick goal in the 68th minute.
Eighteen minutes later, Ollie Watkins put the cherry on top of England's win, tapping home the rebound after Morgan Rogers' effort.
The next challenge for the Three Lions will be at the same time their toughest in the group stage, against Croatia on June 17 in Arlington, Texas, USA (23.00).
On the other hand, Portugal faced a much sterner test in their final World Cup dress rehearsal, but Roberto Martinez's men passed the test, beating Nigeria 2-1.
Although without Victor Osimhen, the Super Eagles caused much trouble for the rivals, as their boss, Eric Chelle, fielded quite a strong lineup with Calvin Bassey, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, Akor Adams...
Still, Portugal opened the scoring in the 23rd minute through Pedro Neto, who exploited Diogo Dalot's assist, but the Navigators' joy lasted only 14 minutes, as Adams equalized, capitalizing on one of Nigeria's few chances before the interval.
Cristiano Ronaldo didn't have his best night, squandering several opportunities, but Francisco Conceicao came to the rescue by scoring the winner 15 minutes from time and ensuring Portugal travel to the World Cup in high spirits.
CR7 and Co. will open the tournament against DR Congo on June 17 in Houston, Texas, USA (20.00).
