Several Harambee Stars players and prospects were in action on Saturday, 4 October, for their respective clubs in what is the last match week ahead of the upcoming international break.
Stars forward Ryan Wesley Ogam finally made his debut for Austrian club Wolfsberger AC after making a switch from Kenyan giants Tusker FC.
Ogam, whose travel to Austria had initially been delayed due to a visa hitch, came on in the 75th minute in their away match against Grazer AK, with Wolfsberger picking up a 3-1 victory.
Markus Pink had put Wolfsberger forward in the 19th minute before Daniel Mardener equalized for the home side in the 43rd minute.
Alessandro Schopf, who provided the assist for the opener, then scored in the 64th minute before Ogam was introduced 11 minutes later.
Schopf completed his man-of-the-match performance with an assist for Donis Avdijaj’s 90th-minute goal.
Wolfsberger are second in the Bundesliga with 17 points, the same as league leaders SK Rapid, who face Salzburg later today.
In the England Championship, Harambee Stars prospect Zak Vyner played the full 90 minutes as his side, Bristol City, suffered a 2-1 home defeat to QPR and dropped to ninth position, out of the promotion playoff places.
In League Two, Harambee Stars utility man Vincent Harper, who received his maiden call-up to the national team for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers, provided an assist for Walsall’s 2-1 victory over Bristol Rovers.
In Sweden, Kenyan duo Stanley Wilson and Irad Mushindi not only started but also played full minutes for Swedish third-tier outfit Enköpings SK in their 3-1 win over Assyriska.
Elsewhere, Harambee Stars defender Ronney Onyango was not in the matchday squad as his club, Sogndal, suffered a 2-0 defeat to Aalesund.
Sogndal are now eighth in the league table with 36 points, with five games left before the end of the season.
On Friday, 3 October, Harambee Stars forward Masoud Juma came off the bench to score and assist in Nejmeh SC’s 3-1 win over Al Sahel.
Juma came on with the game tied at 1-1 and gave them the lead in the 72nd minute before providing the assist to Ali Kassas in the eighth minute of stoppage time.
