The Kenyan giants began the season with a loss to Bidco United before redeeming themselves with a 2-0 victory over Sofapaka in their last match.

With the benefit of two competitive matches as well as numerous friendly games, the 51-year-old has now identified an area where his team is weak.

“We are lucky that we won our last match after losing the first one. We realized that we are lacking attacking options in the final third, and we have been working to improve on that. We want to have a clear way of how we play in the final third,” Akonnor told the club’s media.

Akonnor, who also assessed the team’s overall play, went on to state that addressing their attacking inefficiencies has formed the better part of the team’s recent training sessions.

“In terms of general play, how we keep possession, we are okay. Defensively, we need to do more, but the main concern has been how to create chances and convert them.

We have worked on that for about two days, and hopefully, we will see an impact in our next match,” he stated.

Further, the former Ghana national team head coach once again raised concerns about Dandora Stadium, the venue of their next match against KCB FC.

“It is not favourable on that pitch to demonstrate what you have been working on. It is slippery, it is not the best, but if that is what is available, we will manage it,” he lamented.

Nevertheless, the former Black Stars midfielder has a solution for the state of the pitch.

“We will try not to build from the back like we did in our last match but go directly so as to keep play in the opponent’s half. We have also seen what the opponent can do to hurt us, and we have prepared adequately for that.”
