Chema Volleyball Club star Armstrong Azeofor has insisted that his team will win the Men's Mozzart Kenya Cup 2026 ahead of their final match against GSU.
The Juja-based club made it to the final after a hard-fought 3-1 win over Kenya Prisons in the semi-final to set the stage for an encounter with GSU, who eliminated holders KPA in a tantalising semi-final match played on Saturday, 25 July, at the Kasarani Indoor Arena.
Speaking to Mozzart Sport after securing qualification to the final and winning the Man of the Match award, Azeofor, who missed Chema’s loss to KPA in the league final, is now out to make amends for his team.
“I was not around during the league final and for that reason, I feel like I owe my team the title now that I am available,” said Azeofor.
The Nigerian admitted there is pressure in being the team’s main man but revealed that he has embraced the role with grace.
“It is a huge pressure and responsibility on my shoulders but I think I am managing it well. When I came to this team, I told them that I would take them to the final. Together, we have achieved that and now what remains is to bag the title,” added Azeofor.
The tough-talking star also revealed how he managed to psyche up his teammates in their semi-final match even when results were not going their way.
“It was a great and tough match. Kenya Prisons did not come here to joke but we managed to dig in as a team and qualify for the final.
“The match was so difficult. At some point, my teammates were tense and shaking but I managed to encourage them,” he stated.
The third set of their clash against Kenya Prisons saw the Wardens win the set, setting the stage for a crucial fourth set, in which he shared details of how they managed to prevail.
“I told the setter to just set me up when the ball is high and I would deliver the rest. So as I kept on winning points, my teammates slowly came into the game and we managed to win the match,” he remarked.
The final match is scheduled for today, Sunday, 26 July, at the Kasarani Indoor Arena from 16:00 hrs, where the winners will bag KSh300,000, while the runners-up will receive KSh200,000.
KSh150,000 is up for grabs for the third-placed team, while the fourth-placed team will take home KSh100,000, all courtesy of Mozzart Bet.
